This article is about a young lady, Anna, who rented one of my pastels from the Art Society in my hometown. As a student, she thinks renting art for one month at a time is a good way to enjoy an original piece of art in her home. She said she would buy this pastel because looking at it gives her power and energy. Until now, she only had posters on her walls; this was her first art purchase.
Working on this painting, "The Mountain Spirit", was quite a unique process for me. It started off as a picture of a mountain at sunset. Then a tree emerged at the top. Then the tree developed roots that penitrated through the rock. Then the roots took a shape of a figure, the tree became a feather bonnet, and then the Mountain Spirit was revealed!
