In
the mist of trying to figure out who is his master's murderer, Chen
Zen is caught in the middle of a conflict between the Chinese and
Japanese. Chen Zen is helped by Mitsuko (Nakayama Shinobu) and he
feels his loyatly to her. But she is not accepted by his masters
family because she is Japanese. The stay in a little cottage outside
of town while Chen Zen is still trying to solve this mystery.
And as if there
weren't enough complications already, there is also controversy
on who should succeed the master. By blood it should be the masters
son (Chin Siu-ho) but some think it should be Chen Zen. There is
a great scene where him and the masters son fight. It is a really
good fight scene.
Another
good fight scene, other than the end, is when Chen Zen has to fight
Mistuko's uncle (Kurata Yasuaki) who is the Minister of Education
in Japan. Although Chen Zen thinks its a serious battle of combat,
Mitsuko's uncle takes it as an opportunity to teach Chen Zen about
different methods of fighting. This prepares him for his final battle
against the Japanese General.
One of the reasons
why I like this film so much is because it has the right mixture
of drama and action. The plot is good and the martials arts is incredible.
Some say this is Jet Li at his best. It is a must see for any Jet
Li fan.
