MANCHESTER COMMUNICATIONS
Manchester is the largest city in New Hampshire with a population of about 106,000. The city has been ranked among the best places to live consistently over the last few years in leading surveys. Manchester's landscapes varies greatly from lakeside areas to high-rise building and are very similar to many Boston Area Suburbs. Manchester purchased an 800Mhz trunked system a few years ago and is slowly moving all agencies over to the new system. While many agencies are now on the trunked system, many are still using their existing conventional systems. The Trunked system is an EDACS system utilizing eleven frequencies. The most notable area of Manchester now is the ever expanding Manchester Airport. Recognized as one of the fastest growing airports in North America, MHT provides many flights in and out of Southern New Hampshire daily. The expansion project will allow the largest of passenger and cargo aircraft to arrive and depart. Many major airlines have operations at MHT including Southwest, Northwest, U.S.Airways, Delta and now United and a subdivision of Air Canada making it an International Airport. The airport tower handles all approaching and departing flight from manchester as well as Concord, Laconia and Nashua.

POLICE DEPARTMENT OPERATIONS
The Manchester Police Department operates from a single headquarters with substations in target areas including the Mall of New Hampshire. They are separated into three divisions with about three to four sectors per division. In addition, certain target areas or situations have officers specially assigned including a Domestic Abuse Response Team(DART-1,etc), Elderly & City Housing units, Motorcycle and Mounted (horse) patrols(M-1, M-2). Patrol cars are identified by a two digit callsign determined by which of the three divisions they're in. Division-1 is the West Side (Units 1-1, 1-2, etc). Division-2 is the Downtown & Southern parts of the East Side (Units 2-1, 2-2, etc). Division-3 is the Northern part of the city including northernmost downtown (Units 3-1, 3-2, etc). Two officers assigned downtown are almost always (yearround) found on bicycles and when together are identified as 2-3-4. Separately they are 2-3 & 2-4. Administrative units are Identified as "Adam" units, Detectives are "Delta" units, "Mary" units are the Meter/Parking Enforcement Officers. "Traffic" units are officers specially designated to respond to motor vehicle accidents and incidents. They are sworn officers and also backup other units as needed. "Lincoln" units are Lieutenants and "Zebra" units are sargents. The Elderly and city housing officers take and ID from the division they are in and add a higher number, usually 1-7, or 2-8, etc.
EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES
Emergency Medical Services are provided through contract with Rockingham Regional Ambulance. Rockingham provides Advanced Life Support (ALS) to all patients in the city of Manchester. They are dispatched on all EMS runs by Manchester Fire Alarm on a separate VHF-High frequency. Units identify themselves as ALS-1, ALS-2, etc and rotate through the primay ambulances assigned to the city. The Ambulance Base is located at the corner of Auburn and Wilson Streets. When necessary, additional transport ambulances or ambulances running out of Rockingham's Nashua Base will relocate to Manchester for Emergency Response and usually are higher number such as ALS-5, ALS-8, etc. Manchester uses the E-911 call coding system for response and depending on the determination of the E-911 telecommunictor along with procedures and insight from the Fire Department dispatcher, Fire Companies may be assigned on a run along with the ALS. In addition to the VHF-High EMS frequency, Rockingham utilizes a UHF LTR-Trunked system for transport and coordination operations. One site is in Goffstown (Mt.Uncanoonic) and the other in Hollis (For Nashua Base). During larger scale incident, the Goffstown site may become more active with coordination of Ambulances. I list the primary frequency and LTR talkgroup used by Rockingham in the conventional frequency section.
