cover Misconceptions : Truth, Lies, and the Unexpected on the Journey to Motherhood
by Naomi Wolf
Although I don't like her helpless tone and feminist slant in some sections, I appreciated the introduction into the political world of pregnancy. This book opened my eyes to all of my birth and care options, and prompted me to read more.
cover Gentle Birth Choices: A Guide to Making Informed Decisions About Birthing Centers, Birth Attendants, Water Birth, Home Birth, Hospital Birth
by Barbara Harper
Good information on birth options.
cover Natural Childbirth the Bradley Way
by Susan McCutcheon
Wonderful information on the birth process and natural pain relief methods.
cover The Thinking Women's Guide to a Better Birth
by Henci Goer
A bit biased, but good information on birth alternatives.
cover Breeder: Real-Life Stories from the New Generation of Mothers
by Ariel Gore (Editor)
Entertaining pregnancy and motherhood stories.
cover How to Choose the Sex of Your Baby : The Method Best Supported by Scientific Evidence
by Landrum B., MD Shettles, David M. Rorvik
Very good book on timing of conception and theory of sex selection. Our ultrasound says we're having a boy and that's what we were going for!
cover Prenatal Parenting: The Complete Psychological and Spiritual Guide to Loving Your Unborn Child
by Frederick Wirth MD

cover My Boys Can Swim!: The Official Guy's Guide to Pregnancy
by Ian Davis
Don't bother. This book offers only basic information about pregnancy and how men should deal with it. Insulting.
cover The Birth Partner
by Penny Simkin

cover Pregnancy, Childbirth, and the Newborn: The Complete Guide
by Penny Simkin

cover The Pregnancy Book: Month-by-Month, Everything You Need to Know From America's Baby Experts
by Williams, Md. Sears, et al
This book contains great information about every aspect of pregnancy without presenting anything in a scary, threatening or condescending way. However, a woman can find some suggestions tough to follow, such as avoiding gestational diabetes testing. But overall a very good book to have throughout pregnancy.
cover Your Pregnancy Week by Week
by Glade B. Curtis, Judith Schuler
Obviously a book by a male doctor. Tries to fit all women into "average" or "typical" pregnancy development. Some information presented in frightening manner. The tone is unsympathetic and condescending. Pro-hospital, pro-conforming, quiet patient.

cover
Your Pregnancy Week by Week
Revised, Fifth Edition
I've taken a look through this updated edition and I think it's much improved. I plan to buy this edition and add it to my pregnancy/childbirth library.
cover Spiritual Midwifery
by Ina May Gaskin
This is a very fun hippy book that helps add a spiritual and lighter side to childbirth. Brings it down to earth.
cover Mind over Labor
by Carl Jones
A great book to read in the last few weeks of pregnancy that will help alleviate concerns and worry about the upcoming birth. Includes mental imagery excerises and affirmations.
cover The Baby Book: Everything You Need to Know About Your Baby from Birth to Age Two
by William Sears, Martha Sears

cover Baby Catcher: Chronicles of a Modern Midwife
by Peggy Vincent
Great book! My mom also read this book and said it helped her to understand my desires for my labor and birth.
cover Birth: A Literary Companion

Interesting stories and writings on pregnancy, childbirth, motherhood.
cover Health Journeys Meditations: To Support A Healthy Pregnancy & Successful Childbirth
by Belleruth Naparstek
Great tapes. I listened to these as often as I could, and during my first labor - second went too fast. HIGHLY recommend!
cover Prenatal Yoga
Shiva Rea
I used this a few times during my first pregnancy. Nice, easy, slow. Three women to follow depending on how far along you are.
cover Goodnight Moon
by Margaret Wise Brown
John likes to read this to my tummy at night. No, there's not really a story. It's just a fun book to read outloud.
cover Knitting for Baby: 30 Heirloom Projects With Complete How-To-Knit Instructions
by Melanie Falick, et al
Great book for beginning knitters. I taught myself with this book and have made a hat for the baby for after birth and am now working on a blanket.
cover Baby Bargains: Secrets to Saving 20% to 50% on Baby Furniture, Equipment, Clothes, Toys, Maternity Wear and Much, Much More!
by Denise Fields, Alan Fields
I liked Bridal Bargains more, but did find some good information on cribs and resources for other items.
cover Guide to Baby Products (Guide to Baby Products, 7th Ed)
by Sandy Jones
Okay information, but wanted more brand comparisons and ratings.
