Misconceptions : Truth, Lies, and the Unexpected on the Journey to Motherhood
by Naomi Wolf
|
Although I don't like her helpless tone and feminist slant in some sections, I appreciated the introduction into the political world of pregnancy. This book opened my eyes to all of my birth and care options, and prompted me to read more.

The Pregnancy Book: Month-by-Month, Everything You Need to Know From America's Baby Experts
by Williams, Md. Sears, et al
|
This book contains great information about every aspect of pregnancy without presenting anything in a scary, threatening or condescending way. However, a woman can find some suggestions tough to follow, such as avoiding gestational diabetes testing. But overall a very good book to have throughout pregnancy.

Your Pregnancy Week by Week
by Glade B. Curtis, Judith Schuler
|
Obviously a book by a male doctor. Tries to fit all women into "average" or "typical" pregnancy development. Some information presented in frightening manner. The tone is unsympathetic and condescending. Pro-hospital, pro-conforming, quiet patient.
Your Pregnancy Week by Week
Revised, Fifth Edition
I've taken a look through this updated edition and I think it's much improved. I plan to buy this edition and add it to my pregnancy/childbirth library.
