| Andy proposed January 5, 2001 during his friend, Alex's birthday. I had return from a trip actually expecting the proposal during Christmas. Christmas came and went without a peep from him. The same went with New Year. And the day before I was to leave he suggests we attend his friend's birthday dinner. I was in one of those "whatever" moods. So I said "whatever..." We went and halfway through dinner he has a toast to make. My thought was "Oh goodness...can it get any worse...just get this night over with..." We scooted back to make room and he gets on his knees!!! And pulls this ring from his jacket and proposes in front of some 20 guests plus other patrons at the restaurant. It was so sweet, which made me feel guilty for all the thoughts I had during dinner. :) It is still a blur to me but I do remember the "Will you marry me?" part. Memorial weekend of 2001 we formally got engaged following the traditional Vietnamese ceremony. Thanks to all of our friends and families who came for that special occasion. |
