Knight Errant | |||||||
A Knight Errant is a knight who has come to earn renown. He has mastered the ability to acquire wealth through his abilities as a knight. Because of this, he no longer requires the support of his Lord and will begin to acquire his own vassals. The rank of Knight Errant is not to be confused with a Lord. Unlike a Lord, the Knight Errant is not responsible for anyone other than himself and his house. He will continue to pursue his path to gaining recognition and fame for his abilities. He will take on squires and train them in the path of Knighthood well into his career. His knowledge of all things knightly and their applications to everyday occurrences is without peer, as must be his role-playing abilities. A key aspect to a Knight Errant is training his squire. This is probably the hardest, demanding, and most rewarding part of the rank. It is highly recommended you interview and pick a squire yourself. You are not a babysitter. A knight trains who they want when they want. If the squire does not show willingness to work hard, an ear to listen, a friendly nature, or obey your commands, they are not squire material. Knights and Squires should spend a considerable amount of time together. The Knight Errant teaches the squire just as much about life as about the sword. A squire will follow his knight, act as they do, and move at his every command. Training sessions where you teach the squire fighting should be more than just standing and letting them hit you. You should be talking, either telling them what they are doing wrong, or telling them a tale of your greatness. The purpose of training is not just building skills, but creating a bond between Knight Errant and Squire. Take your squire on a pilgrimage to Trinsic, or Yew. Have your squire accompany on your missions. This is their time to learn, and your time to teach by example. If you leave them to just hunt dungeons and show up when they please, making no standards for them, they will not make a good Knight and their down fall will be mostly your fault. Give them time, rules, tales, and lessons, and the better the knight they will become, and you will be. The King and Queen can only appoint the rank of Knight Errant. Uniform: -The Knight Errant will wear a surcoat in the color of his choice. This color will represent his house and will be unique from any other Knight. He will incorporate the guild color into his uniform. Armor: - Same as the Lord rank. Restrictions: - Can ride a steed when desired. However, the Knight falls under the same requirements as the Calvary rank when doing so. No armor or items of elven or samurai heritage. Please use sound judgment in this area. You may use an item so long as it cannot be seen on your character. Allowed Skills: - Skills befitting a Knight. Any skills EXCEPT magery, evaluate intelligence, necromancy, poisoning, meditation, spell weaving, alchemy, spirit speak, bushido, ninjistu, hiding and stealth. If you wish your character to use and of the mentioned skills then you are to seek out an expert in that specific 'Path'. For example, if you wish your character to learn magery in order to use spells such as Energy Vortex then you are to seek out a Wizard before using it in game. |
