Hello, my name is Heather Anne Phillips and I am a law student at The College of William and Mary Law School in Williamsburg, Virginia. I recently graduated from Scripps College, the women's college in Claremont, California with a degree in politics earned from the Pomona College politics department. I am engaged to Michael Kantro who is an all around wonderful human being, and fellow law student at William and Mary.

Well, then, about me. I am spent this past summer (2000) as an NVSLC Summer Legal Fellow working with California Rural Legal Assistance. I had a wonderful time reacquainting myself with the natural beauties of California, especially Yosemite National Park. The summer before that (1999), Mike and I studied in Spain. At the moment, though, I am busy finishing up law school, preparing to take the Bar Exam and trying to find a job. Aside from being a law student (an occupation that sucks up much of my life, energy and sanity), I have managed to find a few hobbies. I love to read, I am an amateur photographer, and a cinema fan. I also appreciate the works of certain artists. To keep my sanity, I do yoga on a regular basis. I love to cook -- especially baking bread. In fact, one of my biggest weaknesses is good food. I love freshly baked bread, fresh mozzarella, homemade soup, raspberries -- anything with a clean, unfussy, honest taste. I love coffee and tea -- they are ultimate law student comfort foods. I also try to keep my sense of the absurd well honed.

To be honest, I find the whole idea of a personal web page just a bit self-indulgent and egocentric. In fact, I find much of the web to be nothing but self-indulgent and egocentric. It just boggles me that anyone would want to know enough about a total stranger to necessitate a web site devoted to that person. Still, I have created this web page for several reasons -- only one of which is a desire to be self-indulgent and egocentric. First, I need an un-law school related project in order to keep my sanity. Second, since I think that so much of the world wide web is dedicated to stupid, self-serving, pointless, uninteresting subjects, I felt that I should put up some pages dealing with some of the neglected, intriguing subjects that much of the web ignores.
