Lok Sun Page updated.

NEW. Message from me: First let me apologize for not updating the site for an entire year.  Last year when I first began working on my site, I also started contributing to Ada Cache.  For those who don’t know, my favourite actress is Ada Choi and Ada Cache is a website that is devoted to her.  Anyway, I didn’t realize then that I would end up being one of the web-masters for Ada Cache and devoting most of my spare online time to the site.  Ada Cache looks really good now and although I still have a billion things to do for the site, lately, I have been thinking of this site, the site that counts as my first real website.  Let me just say that, I will be trying to update the site in the next few weeks.  Since my current obsession is with the EXCELLENT TVB series “Lok Sun” (Where the Legend Begins), I will naturally be trying to update information on that page.  What I will be doing will hopefully be different from what seagull and I have been doing with Ada Cache and Ada Cache’s Lok Sun Website.  Right now, I don’t know if what I intent to do will be duplicated on Ada Cache’s Lok Sun Website but then, does it really matter? J I will try and search up all the old threads from the Ada Collections Forum and archive it here.  I think some of the threads would be of interest to some of you as we talk in detail in some of the threads on the characters and plot of the series.  We also recently had an excellent discussion in the Ada Cache Forum on Ching Fung in the Armed Reaction series which may interest some of you and I will try and archive that in the next few weeks as well.

I will no longer be updating the Ada Choi Archived News section or the Ada Choi Photos section because all that will now be done for Ada Cache.  I urge all who are interested in the excellent Ada Choi to please visit Ada Cache.   The site has a ton of screen captures of Ada from her TV series, her films and several other events.  We also have scans and a goodie section.  And we also have lots of news and interview translations in the NEWSROOM section and in the KNOWING ADA section.  Please also feel free to drop in on either the Ada Cache Forum or the Ada Collections Forum to discuss issues related to Ada Choi.  If you wish to discuss Off Topic (i.e. non-Ada Choi related) issues that are related to HK Cinema, TV and other TVB series, you are also welcomed to drop in on the Ada Cache Forum.  We aren’t very draconian there as long as you keep your posts polite. J  Also, my knowledge of HTML still remains rudimentary, so heh heh, the look of this site isn’t going to change drastically anytime soon. J

Lastly, please keep in mine that the archive posts from the forums are only opinions.  Don’t take them too seriously.  If you have an opposing opinion please don’t hesitate to email it to me and I may post it up next to my original opinion.  Of course please don’t email me one-liners and it would be more interesting if it’s a constructive post backed up by examples from the series or something.  That said, everyone, enjoy the site. J

Foreword: Okay my html and website building knowledge is rudimentary at best so this is going to be the best this page is going to look for a while.

Aims: The aims of this website is mostly to provide a place where   I can archive online my thoughts on Hong Kong Cinema,   TVB series, my favourite  actress (Ada Choi Siu-fun) and other things   pertaining to the Asian entertainment   world etc.  Sometimes I  spend a lot of effort posting a review, comment,   thought or reply  on a forum only to see it disappear into the abyss after   a few days,  weeks  or months.  Hence, I've decided to archive some of the posts  which   might be of interest so that if someone asks a question on one of the forums, I don't have to spend time thinking up an answer to a question I've  already answered, I can just give them the link.  I know,   I know, I'm lazy. :-)

Email:  If you wish to contact me, you can either sign the guestbook or email me at loksun_2001@yahoo.com or sharonapple@mail.com

Some of the posts or categories, especially in the TVB Series Posts sections and the Ada Choi posts sections may overlap, I'll do my best to cross-reference them.

"Lok  Sun"  - The legend of the Goddess of the River Luo and how it relates  to TVB's  "Lok Sun" series starring Ada Choi, Steven Ma, Moses Chan, Sonija  Kwok, Lau Dan etc.  This page mainly provides background information  to the series.  This series was shot in 2001 and is in post-production right now.  No one knows when the release date will be but most suspect it'll probably be at the tail end of 2001 or beginning of 2002.

Instructions for how to vote for the TVB Awards 2001  -  Voting is over.  Results: Ada won the Favourite Partnership Award with Lawrence Ng for Healing Hands 2.  She also won one of the Top 13 Favourite Roles Award for her performance in Armed Reaction III as Wai Ying Zhi (Ah Zhi).  Congrats.

Ada Choi Links
Ada's Cache (English) - great site on the actress, not complete though.
adachoi.com site (Chinese) - great site, the most up-to-date site on the actress, has a Chinese news database that stretches back into 1997. Has a mostly Chinese forum but you can write in English if you wish.
Ada Choi Collections (English) - pretty good site, not as up-to-date though, has a forum in English on the actress. Sadly, the webmaster of Ada Choi Collections is on an indefinite hiatus.  The site is still up and running but is no longer being updated.
sina.com.cn's Ada Choi Fan Club (Chinese) - a pretty good read, has a news archive in Chinese, has a usually lively forum in Chinese but I think you have to have a Mainland/Hong Kong ID number to join before you can participate in the forum.
Seestar's Ada Choi's news site (Chinese) - the news is usually fairly up-to-date and the archive dates back to 1997.

Hong Kong Television and Cinema Links (all in English except where specified)
Mobius Home Video Forum Asia Cinema Discussion Forum - really good forum
Hong Kong Entertainment News in Review - really good site that translates HK enteertainment news into English.  Has a search engine, the archive goes pretty far back.
Hong Kong Film Critics Society Website - has reviews in English and Chinese. p; Their Chinese reviews are more up-to-date.
E-Buzz: The Ultimate Entertainment Hut - mainpage with links to tons of good sites like the E-Buzz TV Series Site, Starz Galore Site etc.
E-Buzz: TV Serials Database - IMO the best tv series database online at the moment.  Reviews tv series from TVB, ATV, Mediacorp (Singapore,) Taiwan etc.  The reviews are generally of a higher quality than most.  Site also has links to pictures and other fans sites.  There is also a link to several film reviews but only a handful are Asian.
A Better Tomorrow - Peter Martin's website.  Good capsule reviews of HK films on DVD.
Another Hong Kong Movie Page - great website with good reviews of many HK films.
A Chinese Cinema Page - Shelly Kraicer's website.  Good reviews, sometimes quite academic.  Lots on Mainland Chinese films.
Hong Kong Cinema - View From the Brooklyn Bridge - Great site, one of my favourite sites on HK cinema.  Has a zillion reviews and a really good Actors Database.
Hong Kong Digital - John Charles who wrote the really cool The Hong Kong Filmography also has a website online.  He includes information on the dvds as well.
The Chinese Movie Database - A database on Chinese, Hong Kong cinema.  Has a Chinese and English version.  It's not that up-to-date but it's a good backup to have when the Hong Kong Movie Database goes down.
The Hong Kong Movie Database - A  great   database but has been going down a lot lately.  This link now works perfectly.
DVD Review - not technically a site on HK films but it does have a review database that reviews many US releases of HK films on dvd.  It also has a section on interviews which includes an interveiw with Michelle Yeoh.  It also has a fairly lively chat forum but there is very little talk on HK cinema.
The Asian DVD Guide - a great site to get the latest information on upcoming Asian dvd releases.  Has a forum on the site and links to reviews.
SPCNET Reviews - A pretty good site with fairly good reviews on Hong Kong tv series.  The really cool part about the site is the links to translated English versions of Jin Yong's and Gu Long's Wuxia novels.
TVB's site - in Chinese.  This is TVB's Hong Kong website.  It has a database of TVB artists but it's not been update for a long time.  Also has a main forum and forums for the various TV series.  The TVB forums are usually very nasty places to visit, lots of fighting, not usually worth the time.  You can watch archived "K-100" (like Entertainment Tonight) on the site.
Hong Kong Stars Discussion Forum - Mainpage with links to the various fan forums, some are  more active than others.  One of the better ones to visit is the New TVB Series Forum, although sometimes it gets really boring and bogged down with silly posts.  There is a link to the Ada Choi Forum as well (same link as the one at the top of the page,) that's a cool place to visit mostly cuz I often hang out there. :-)  But seriously, the really good forum to visit is the Jin Yong Forum, lots of good writing, comments etc on Jin Yong's novels, wuxia series etc.
