The
101 Boys and the Dunces squared off in a Week 15 game that would decide
the 2001 season. The Boys came out on top 92-68, and clinched their
second MACCFL title a week later.
1) 101 BOYS
Free agent Dominic Rhodes (92) provided the Boys with
the running game they needed after Robert Smith's sudden retirement.
Rod Smith (108) and David Boston (113) both went over 100 points, and the
QB duo of Dante Culpepper (86) and Jeff Garcia (115) topped 200 points.
2) DUNCES
It was another solid year from Peyton Manning (208) and
Marvin Harrison (156). Randy Moss (116) was inspired enough to top
the 100 point mark again. Antowain Smith (74) made a nice comeback
for New England, but Stephen Davis (59) was a disappointment.
3) VIPERS
Marshall Faulk (214) was the top RB and the MVP - again.
Donovan McNabb (141) continues to improve, but their lack of depth kept
the Vipers from finishing higher.
4) SKID MARKS
Priest Holmes (138) had a breakout year, and Ahman Green
(150) was even better. The WR corps was weak, although Derrick Mason
(77) came on strong at the end. Trent Green (56) was acquired on
draft day, but did not provide the spark that was expected.
5) SEA BIRDS
Shaun Alexander (174) finally got some playing time and
responded with a huge year. Tim Brown (99) had his best season since
1995. Ricky Williams (77) was expected to contribute more, and Elvis
Grbac (63) was a letdown.
6) REBELS
Brett Favre (180) is still the greatest player in league
history. Corey Dillon (122) bounced back from a subpar 2000 season.
Jimmy Smith (87) and Bill Schroeder (90) both had good years.
7) IDIOTS
Kurt Warner (221) was the top QB, scoring more points
than anybody. The RB trio of Emmitt Smith (30), Jerome Bettis (74)
and Ricky Watters (13) were slowed by injuries. Keyshawn Johnson
(29) went most of the year without finding the endzone. Anthony Thomas
(49) and Plaxico Burress (57) are both rising stars.
8) WOODY'S
LaDainian Tomlinson (95) had a great rookie year.
Tim Couch (73) and Kevin Johnson (81) bounced back from a horrible 2000
campaign. Lavareneus Coles (62) took the next step, and could become
a top WR soon.
9) WAR MONGERS
Injuries to Edgerrin James (51) and Terrell Davis (10)
really doomed the Mongers. The WRs also struggled this year as Troy
Brown (44) led the team.
10) ISRAELITES
Jamal Lewis was injured before the season, and the team
never recovered. Curtis Martin (126) and Jake Plummer (94) had good
years, but J.J. Stokes (44) and David Terrell (14) were the only other
players to score in double digits.
11) ZEPPELINS
Terrell Owens (165) was the top WR and runner-up in the
MVP race. Kerry Collins (100) was solid, but Eddie George (42) and
Cris Carter (49) both fell short of expectations.
12) BOOTLEGGERS
Another injury to Jamal Anderson (22) left the bootleggers
without an everyday back. Mike Anderson (44) did not get enough playing
time to post numbers like he did last year. Torry Holt (81) continues
to improve, but Isaac Bruce (67) slipped a little. Doug Flutie (34)
and Vinny Testeverde (42) formed a below average QB duo. |
