Think you might be pregnant?

First of all, if you're serious about finding out, you can make an appointment with your doctor or you can go to your local Pregnancy Center to get a free test or you can pick one up from almost any drug store. It is vitally important for you and the baby to go to a doctor for care while you're pregnant - especially during the first few months. If you are pregnant make sure you take your prenatal vitamins!

There are people who are there to help you through this. If you need to talk to someone, and you're scared to talk to your parents, try these numbers:

America's Crisis Pregnancy Help Line at 1-800-672-2296 You can speak with a counselor Monday - Friday from 6 am to 10 pm or Saturday from 9am to 10 pm and on Sundays you can leave a confidential message for a counselor to call you back.

Care Net at 1-800-395-HELP

From personal and second hand experience I know that there are some things you need to know. These are things that you probably know in your head but that you don't really understand yet. If you don't already, then you need to understand that:

  • This is not the end of your life.

  • You can not undo what you've done.

  • There is no quick fix.

  • You can go on and have a wonderful life.

  • You are not doomed to fail.

  • You are not worthless.

  • You are not stupid.

  • Every single person on this earth makes mistakes.

  • No one is worth more than you are.

Now, as you already know, you have different options to consider. Once you understand what your situation is, the best thing you can do right now is stop, take a deep breath, and go slowly. Don't rush into anything - you do have some time to decide what to do. Talk with people who have made the choices you are considering. Taking your time and really looking into every real option will help keep you from making a choice you'll regret.

I know it's scary but you can handle this. Feel free to email me if you want to talk. Or you can visit the links. There's tons of teen mom and teen parent pages out there and it might help you to see others who have been where you are. You might feel like it, but you're not alone.
