Kui Hua didn't know how she went home.  She threw herself on the bed and cried hysterically, "My God! Why? Why?  What have I done wrong?" Her heart was full of bitterness, jealousy, love and hatred.
Eventually, Kui Hua lay there.  She didn't eat, didn't move, even stopped crying.  In her dizziness, she seemed as if she saw her father's composed image and her mother-in-law's smiling face.  These, like magic hands, soothed her irritable emotion.  She remembered her father had told her that tolerance is virtue.  Because of love, Kui Hua determined not only to forgive Tin Ming, but also was willing to sacrifice herself, her whole life, to his interest.
It was a full moon night.  Through the window, Kui Hua could see the withered sunflower.  That made her recalling the happy olden days.  She added a short poem on her last letter:
      My love
              the sweetest,
              the bitterest.
      My love
              never forget,
              never regret.
      My love
              brighter than the diamond,
              warmer than the fire.
      My love
the wonderful song in my heart,
the beautiful rainbow in my life.

Then she combed her hair tidily and wore very light makeup.  She put on her embroidered red wedding gown.  After drinking poisoned wine, Kui Hua lay on the bed and covered her face with her bridal veil.
She whispered, "Farewell, my dear Ming!"
Meili came to the funeral.  She deeply regretted that she hadn't insisted that Kui Hua stay with her.  When she was collecting Kui Hua's relics, under the pillow she found a withered sunflower and a heap of letters, all with the same contents, which Kui Hua had never sent.
