Obituarys
Back to Index
I'm ever grateful to those who left a paper trail for me to follow, a shred of history that would help me to get a true sense of my own ancestors.  I strain to hear their voices speak to me throught their journals, census, marriage records, death records, letters and photographs.  I am so thankful when I run across a newspaper clipping or any scrap of information that someone cared enough to save for me, a window to the past. Sometime you hunt in vain for just a scrap of information and then when you find just one little item about your family, it makes it all worth while. When I read the obituarys with children and adults dying so young, my heart goes out to them, I feel their pain, suffering and sense of hopelessness.   Our daily lives are filled with stress, just think what it would be like to struggle like they had to just to survive.  I thank them for paving the way for us to obtain a more comfortable life.
