Day two and we've come 17 kms from Boulder Creek.  We are coming to the last of the Jonas Valley before going over the Jonas shoulder.  We begin calling it the "Never Ending Valley".  It is long. This looks south from which we have come. More astounding scenery for each tired step.  We have 6 km to go and over the toughest part of the hike.
We are rising out of the Jonas valley.  Patrice moves faster than the SOG and is some piece ahead.  The shadows are getting very long and we are pretty tired and sore.  I have a couple of blisters. Ouch!
WOW!  We have made it to the Jonas Shoulder.  It's late and the background has a moonscape look.  The Shoulder is at 2470 meters.  We've climbed a net of about 650 meters (2100 feet) in two days. A tired young woman but with a real sense of accomplishment. It's downhill into the Poboktan Valley and to the Jonas Cutoff Campground.
Beginning of Day 3 we wake up in Jonas Cutoff Campground.  Patrice loves her tent.  After a tough 24 km day we alter plans to stay at Poboktan tonight (13 kms) instead of Avalanche (20 kms). We will hike to Waterfalls Campground where we will have lunch while I nurse my blisters.  Waterfalls turns out to be a pretty spot where we would plan to stay if we did this hike again.
