*Sigh* Alright, let me explain. Ever get into an arguement with you parents where you say something sacrastic, and they reply "Don't you use that tone of voice with me!" Well, that's pretty much what tone is. It is the style or manner of expression. However tone can be applied to writing as well. Basically, tone is what writers use to express a certain mood they want the readers to feel or get a sense of when they read their work. Ever read a certain passage from a book that you instantly knew that the author was conveying sadness, happiness, anger, etc.? Well, that's the effect of tone.
