Rochester, NY - Michael Metzger Racing is proud to announce a new partnership with Timex that will allow Michael Metzger to compete in the 2009 Late Night Racing League.  The league races on Friday nights and Michael will compete in the MasGrafx Cup Series, the elite series in the LNR League.  Piloting the #27 Timex Chevrolet Impala Metzger is aiming for the top.  "Disapointing I could not secure my old familier #28, but I feel the #27 will offer a fresh start this year.  This whole package came together so fast, I think my head is still spinning.  From talking about it to actually getting everything in line to go forward and race has been a rapid process.  I appriciate Timex coming on board, and the continued support from Kodak, Gatorade, and Impact! Racing from my karting days, and the new partnerships with Kendal Motor Oil and Aquafresh.  I also want to thank Greg Netherwood for his help in getting MMR going this year in the LNR League.  The car looks great, I just have to get the rust off this week," Michael was quaoted at the annoucement.  Netherwood, a fellow racer in the LNR League, assisted in the creation of the car and getting Michael and the whole MMR staff up to speed.  The first race for the league is Friday February 13th.  Timex will adorn the car for the majority of the races but Kendall Motor Oil, Aquafresh, and Kodak will be seen as primaries throughout the year.  "We haven't selected the races yet, but those other sponsors will be primaries and I look forward to getting all the sponsors into vicotry lane."  Michael did take time out during the press conference to talk about the rumors of him returning to Batavia International Motorsports Park for the 2009 season.  "I tried going that route, had the sponsors in place, but unfortunitely not even racing is immune to the current economic situation.  There's no league in Batavia for 2009, and that's a shame because of what it offers and I am confident we had a good package for 2009, we'll just have to put our energy into the LNR League."  First up Michael took to the track in the #70 Haas Automation Chevrolet to get up to speed on Tuesday.  "I want to thank the boys at Stewart-Haas for letting me test their car today to shake down my skills," said Michael.  The one off test came as Michael's own car was delayed in getting to Daytona.  Pictures from that test are below.
