June 29, 2006 - No real news to report on, although as the days pass the urge to go racing gets more and more. Expect to see West Motorsports back at the track soon, not running for points but for more experience and to break in the new equipment. May 25, 2006 - The 2006 Mini Indy season has been cancelled at Batavia International Motorsports Park. Due to difficulties getting the karts ready the unfortunite decision was made. Michael's take "it's annoying to say the least because of the money I invested in equipment for the season, but if they can't get it ready, they can't get it ready. We'll just have to wait until next year to race and take the time to prepare for that. Hopefully there will be a 2007 season." Track operator Bob Trimper has said "hopefully I can get everything set for next year, I'm going to try." So between that and the already shortening schedule for West Motorsports, MMR will be in for a long season this year with little to do. "That's the cards that are dealt, we can sit here and moan about it, or take the time to get everything set for BIMP next year and get Steve's car up to where it should be, the glass is always half full" said Metzger. May 4, 2006 - Michael's take on the shortened karting season and West Motorsports' plans for 2006: "My only gripe with the season being delayed is I'm ready to go racing now. But this also gives me more time to get funds together for the season and allows me to explore the posibility of purchasing a snowmobile helment for use in the series. Also, with loosing those drop races, I've gotta cross my fingers for good weather every Wednesday here on out because racing in the rain was a challenge for me in 2004. With costs rising, naturally you've got to cut some place to stay afloat when you don't have a sponsor when racing. I full understand and support Steve's decision to cut back on the schedule and gain experience for 2007 and make that the year to run for the championship. This also gives us a chance to not be tied down to one track, while Lancaster will be where we race mainly, we'll defintiely try other tracks. Again, like karting, I just can't wait to get back into the action again." April 30, 2006 - News from West Motorsports, the 2006 schedule has changed. Rather than run a full season at Lancaster, the decision was made to cut the schedule to save money. Instead of a May start, West Motorsports is looking for a mid June start. Also this allows West Motorsports to not be tied down to one race track, being able to pick and choose which races and gain experience at a variety of tracks. This will help put West Motorsports in a position to run for the title at either Lancaster or a track to be named later. The crew backs the decision 100% because of the high expenses in racing and little to no sponsor income just yet for the team. If you'd like to sponsor the team, feel free to contact Michael at Metzger28@Loadmail.com. April 29, 2006 - News from Batavia International Motorsports Park has the begining of the 2006 season being moved from the begining of May to the begining of June. This changes the complection of the season, because previously a driver could have three races to skip and not count against them. Now there are only 12 races to be run, making every race count. Michael Metzger is confident that when the season starts, he can come out strong and run up front. April 13, 2006 - Michael Metzger Racing is please to announce the addition of Matt Brehm to it's racing family. Brehm will join with Michael Metzger in racing at Batavia during the year. Also the website has again been updated, so check it out some more. April 9, 2006 - Michael has confirmed he will compete at Batavia International Motorsports Park after a one year hiatus.
