April 15, 2009 - Kansas, MO - A disapointing seventh place finish for Michael Metzger and the MMR crew. A great car was spoiled by an early incident that religated Michael three laps down early. After getting one lap back due to the lucky dog, Michael could only claw back up to seventh place. But the finish was enough to elevate him to fourth place in the standings 167 points out of first. April 8, 2009 - Evergreen, WA - Michael Metzger topped his previous week finish by grabbing 2nd place at Evergreen Speedway. "What do I say every week? It wasn't pretty but it doesn't matter how you get there at the end, we still got second and the points that come with it," said Michael after the race. The second consecutive top five finish vaulted Michael to sixth in points, as the top two drivers in the points failed to make the trip out to the scenic Washington speedway. "We keep chipping away and getting the results, I'm not totally happy with how we're getting here but, first year team this momentum is good to build on," continued Michael. Next on the schedule is Kansas Speedway April 15th. April 1, 2009 - Pikes Peak, CO - Michael Metzger enjoyed his best career finish at Pikes Peak, netting a third place. "It wasn't pretty, but we kept the truck in one piece and got a much needed top five out of it," said Michael after the race. The finish volted Michael to ninth place in points, 304 markers behind the leader. For the year Michael has one top five finish, four top tens, and at Pikes Peak, he also lead two laps the first two of his young career. The series moves on to Evergreen Speedway April 8th and Michael is looking for another strong run. March 22, 2009 - While not the most impressive run, it was a career best Friday night for Michael in the MasGrafx Cup series. He grabbed tenth place, his first top ten run of the season and his career. Aided by accidents and mechanical failures, Michael worked his way from the 16th place starting spot. "We are by no means burning up the track, but we are making strides," Michael said after the race. "I was not involved in one accident, after crashing out of the last two starts (at Daytona and Atlanta), and we did gain speed throughout the night. We started running laps right there with the leaders, we just couldn't keep it going consistantly to run up front." LNR rules stipulate drivers get two "passes" during the season, in this case Michael got credit for starting and the points for the second and third races of the year the team opted to skip. This has allowed Michael to be in 24th in the points standings, "we didn't think we'd run the whole year, we're aided by this and with such a promising finish, I look forward to Martinsville next week." On the Truck Series side, it should be noted Michael moved up to 10th in the standings. "I'm thrilled, that's with missing the opener in Daytona. Trucks are where we're accelerating right now and the focus lies, but things are getting better on the Cup side as well." March 19, 2009 - Michael grabbed his third top ten performance last night when the LNR Truck Series hit Martinsville Speedway. Handling caused him to park his car after 71 laps, but that was still good enough for 6th place. Michael plans on being in Bristol Friday for the LNR MasGrafx Cup Series race. March 11, 2009 - Michael finished 7th in this night LNR Truck Series race at Bristol. This is Michael's best finish this far this season, and his career. It moved him up to 12th place in the points. Visit Michael's facebook for the recap or the LNR Website. March 7, 2009 - MMR is happy to annouce the website has been updated to reflect the opening rounds of the LNR League races. Inside you will see Michael's updated statistics, schedule, and profile. We will here quickly recap what has happened this year for everyone. In the LNR MasGrafx Cup Series Michael has made one start, the opening race at Daytona. After qualifiying was settled by a random order, Michael got the second spot to start. After a major wreck, he fell to the back of the field until crashing while entering pit road for green flag stops. A disapointing end to a promising night but many lessons were learned. Michael has gone on to skip the Cup events thus far to concentrate on gaining experience in the Truck Series. From there Michael started in the Truck Series at the Auto Club Speedway in California, Michael ran a conservative race and finshed 17th while getting a handle on driving the trucks. Las Vegas proved to be a wreckfest that allowed Michael to slip into the 10th place in the final run down. When the series went to Atlanta, another wreckfest but a scoring error religated Michael to a 17th place finish, and on the Cup side from Atlanta, Michael crashed out after 5 laps to finish 27th. Plans are also in the works for Michael to debut a special Kodak paint job in the Cup Series in the near future. You can also get updates and exclusive photos off of Michael's Facebook page here. February 11, 2009 - The Big announcement is here! Michael Metzger will pilot the #27 Timex Chevrolet in the LNR League's MasGrafx Cup Series in 2009. Click here for more details on the announcement and view some photos of the car and Michael's Daytona test. February 8, 2009 - There might not have been updates going on, but MMR has been hard at work and very close to a press conference on their 2009 plans. Rumors continue to circulate as to what that could be, a tight lipped Michael Metzger would only comment on a few things. "There will be something new to discuss soon, but I will say now there is no racing at BIMP this year. The league has, for now, ceased to exist. I am disapointed because I had sponsorship in line to compete and win in 2009 on that track. But we've been able to work on that sponsorship to go in a new direction, check back here for that in a few days." May 13, 2008 - A disapointed Michael Metzger annouced today that there will be no 2008 season for the team. "Potential deals fell through making it impossible now for us to get on the track in 2008, we'll just go back to work for 2009," said Michael in a press release. May 6, 2008 - The season is aproaching but there is no good news from the MMR front. Lack of funding has rendered Michael to make some tough decisions. "Right now we do not have the funds in place to get going this year. My plan is to skip the open practice this Thursday (May 8th) and see where we're at the next week. Right now I would like to just start at race one, but the plan might be to wait until race four to start. There are three races you can drop, I'd hate to use them up at the begining of the year instead of using them for rain days, but this is probably the best way we can ensure a complete run for the cup unless sponsorship materializes." If you or anyone you know would like to sponsor Michael this year, contact him at mmetzger28@yahoo.com. September 7, 2007 - A hollow victory for Michael last night in the final race of the year. We say hollow because no other heavy division drivers showed up, so that gave Michael the win without a fight. "I understand why they didn't show up, I'm happy I got one win on the year, just not how I wanted it," said Michael after the annoucement was made prior to the races. That did not stop the racing though, as all weight classes were put together and quite a show was put on in the feature. All five karts started nose to tail, and stayed that way for the better part of four full laps before the first two light drivers got away, which left a battle between Michael and two medium drivers and in the end after a bump and run, Michael finished third overall and ahead of the medium drivers. "That was some hard, hard racing to keep infront of them, exactly how I wanted to end the year feeling very competitive and knowing I can even beat people who weigh 40 or more pounds less than me," said Michael after the race. "It is a good starting point for next yer to build on," he continued. Also debuting last night was sponsorship from Kodak think. A new partnership built to spread the word of Kodak's new ink imaging systems. "I want to thank Kodak for coming on board tonight, Impact, Mechanix Wear, EXL, and Gatorade for the support throughout the year and we look forward to their support and promoting their products next year," said Michael at the post race interview. So until 2008, MMR would like to again thank you all for the support and we'll have some updates every now and then to keep you all informed. September 6, 2007 - Today is the last race and despite an injured wrist, Michael has positive thoughts going into this race. "I'm hoping the wrist is not a factor, it has been getting better since I sprained it on Sunday. It's the last race and I really want to come out with a win. Unfortunitly I can not make the Year End Shootout this Saturday, so that adds to the pressures of trying to win this race. I just want to end on a high note that I can possibly carry into next year," said Michael from the MMR headquarters in Rochester, NY. The weather looks great so MMR encourages all fans to get out there and cheer Michael on one last time tonight. |
