Practice recap:
Practice started with Michael in the back of the pack and again wanting to see how he could come up through the field. After one lap the lead was his and he never looked back.
Heat recap:
The first heat start with Michael in third place, he got second by the fourth turn going under Dave Lyon. Joe Milazzo was in first on the second lap, Michael was able to get a run on him going into turn one and unlike last week was far enough ahead to get the spot. "I learned someting from last week and it paid off," said Michael. With the lead he then cruised to another heat victory.
In the second heat a bad start relegated Michael five kart lengths behind Eric Zwirlein and the gap never changed. "My kart didn't accelarate at the start and that was the difference, nothing I did cut into his lead," quiped Michael after the race.
Feature recap:
The feature saw Michael on the pole with Eric in second place. Battling a loose kart, Michael lost time in turn five and then ultimately lost first place in the first corner of the second lap. From there Eric pulled away and Michael battled Joe for second place. "The kart was wicked loose every corner, so once I knew Joe was back there I went from trying to gain time to driving defensively. I glued my kart to the inside to force Joe to the outside, and I held on, luckily it was only for a few laps, I don't know if I could have done that much longer. This not being able to win in the feature after being so strong in the heats is really wearing on me. We'll break through, just have to stay focused," said Michael after the race.
