Race #2 of 17
Heat #1 Finish: 4th
Heat #2 Finish: 2nd
Feature Start: 3rd
Feature Finish: 2nd
Number Of Karts: 5

Practice recap:
Using the practice as a test to see how he can do in the coming races, Michael started last out of five karts.  Weaving his way through the traffic Michael was in second of the karts poised to make a run at the leader when another kart spun out.  During the scramble Michael lost his momentum and the first and second place karts pulled away.

Heat recap:
The firs theat of the night was one to forget, the kart was sliding all over the place for Michael.  Not only did he have that, but got mixed up in the begining of the heat.  "I  misunderstood the starting procedure and lost positions on the start," said Michael who believe the procedure was go around the track once then start, rather than start right after entering the track.

The second heat was much better, starting third Michael quickly passed the second place kart and set his eyes on the leader.  Michael caught leader Eric Zwirlelin within three laps and paced the field for the next five laps.  With two laps to go Eric got a fender under Michael going into turn one and made the pass.  With Michael chasing down Eric in the last lap, a kart spun going into turn three which had been Michael's strong point all race.  "I was gonna get him, but checked up when I saw the spining kart and couldn't get back to him, it would have been close," said Michael.  Eric in victory lane said "he was coming, that's for sure, I struggled at that point of the track and got some luck in keeping out front."

Feature recap:
With now knowing the starting procedure, Michael had been making great gains with his timing of the starts.  As seen in the second heat, right away in the feature Michael, starting third, got the inside of the second place kart going into turn one.  But the night belonged to Eric who lead all the laps enroute to victory.  Michael placed second with Joe Milazzo, Dave Lyon and Matt Brehm finishing out the top five.  "Joe was all over me this race, any slip and he would have gotten by.  I just didn't have anything for Eric and was happy to hold onto second."  Joe said after the race "I was right there, but didn't have a place to pass unless he slipped up."
