The band officially started around Christmas of 2002. So that means, December 2002, The first members were Jaymes, Nathan, and Jacob. Jaymes and Nathan were in another band called the saltshakers, but the rest of their band lived in Florida. Since they never would get to practice or such, Jaymes would meet up with Jacob just to play around on their blessed intrusments. After a couple jam sessions, Jaymes came up with the idea to form a side band with Jacob. Currently, Jacob was in a band called Herbie's Landing. They had been a band for about two years, yet they didn't really ever go anywhere. After Jacob moved, he was about an hour's drive away from the rest of the band so eventually they officially broke up and since Jaymes and Nathan live a little bit longer than an hour's drive from Florida, Jacob, Jaymes, and Nathan were now able to concentrate all their effort on the new band. The first practice was very preductive. It wasn't the first official practice because we didn't have a drummer then, but I would say it was an important one. That was what I would call "La Practice de Importante para Empezar", meaning ... I don't really know, but it was the practice that made everyone get serious about becoming a band. That practice we came up with our first son, "Mosh Pit Granny." It was really fun and I think everyone was surprised at how good it sounded. The guys then wanted to really get going. The talent show was coming up soon and they wanted to play a cover song [Softer to me (Relient K)]. But they needed a drummer. They talked to this guy Kyle and he said he would be their drummer, so they signed up for the talent show auditions. Well, soon we found out that Kyle didn't have a drumset so we tried to see anyone who could drum for it, but it was too soon. So they didn't show up for auditions. It was an awesome talent show though, and it would have been even more awesome if MGP would've come rocked everyone's fox. So after a while they needed to get drums to their stuff, but Kyle didn't have a set. They thought "HMmmmm how can we get a set?" and one idea came to mind....WORK FOR IT! But who wants to work, right? So this guy Bruce (awesome fella) donated us the set. Just like that. Jake picked it up from his house and just halled it on home. So then that Sat. they were supposed to have a practice. So Jacob called up Kyle and was seeing if he could make it to practice. Then ouch! Kyle said that he couldn't be in the band becuase he was in another band and they wouldn't like that. Well now we were in a bind. We wanted to get started and be able to play shows and stuff. So Jacob talked to this guy Jimi and asked him if he wanted to play the drums for the band. Jimi was psyched out about it. There was only one problem, he had no idea how to play the drums. So Jacob like got lessons offline and printed them for him and became his personal drum instructor. Over the next 2 weeks or so Jimi came over to Jacob's house like everyday and practiced. He made awesome progress, but he still wasn't near good enough ot have a show too soon. So all of the sudden Kyle comes back and says "Hey, I can be the drummer". So the band was like hmmm, I donno because we told Jimi he could be the drummer. But they really really really wanted to have a show soon. So they let Kyle be the drummer and Jimi became the manager. Jimi immediately began calling people and trying to set up a show for us. After 2 practices with Kyle, they already had 7 songs down. So Jimi one day called up this place and then called Jake after. Jake and Dave we having a little band rehearsal and Jimi calls up and tells Jake that they have a show April 13th at Java Jazz Coffee House. Jake freaked out and spazzed on the floor and went into a cesure. Not really, but "in theory." So now they are really trying to get ready for the show. Jacob, Nathan, and Dave all are totally ready for the show, but Kyle still needs to learn the rest of the material. There's about 5 weeks left before the show. OK, so now there is only 2 days before the show. We recorded our cd, "Reeking Havok With Bubbles," last week and finished it on Tuesday and we are going to start selling them at the show. The cd sounds really good except the vocals are kinda low. We will make sure and fix it on our upcoming cd "It's Weird, I donno." So we finally had our show on April13, 2003. It was pretty good for our first show except Jake had his guitar plugged into the PA system and when it was distorted it sounded really bad. We will make sure that next time we play there Jake will not plug into the PA. We had a total of 35 people there to see us. It was pretty cool because we got the most people there for us. We sold around 9 cd's at the show and had alot of fun. Jake wore a orange jump suit and Nathan wore a cheeseburgler costume and Dave wore this suit jacket and these geeky glasses and a hill billy hat and Kyle was going to wear this alien mask thing but the person who was going to bring it didn't. But it was still alot of fun. Nathan went crazy. All the song were dont pretty good except Jake messed up alot in blindsight. |
