In 1890 Mr.Shumaker Constructed a large and elegant home at the corner  of what is now North            Main street and West High street .The cost of this house ,with the imposing  tower,was $40,000
.  Some years after his death in  1911,his widow found it advisable to  move into a smaller place.
  She sold  the propery to Dr.J.B.McHenry ,then a practicing family doctor in  Homeworth.            
  Minerva News dated 1919 carried the story of the sale with the  headline " Most expensive property     sale in the history of Minerva" The  selling price as listed somewhere  between $10,000  and $12,000 .       This is  the site of the present day post office
The Ford Motor Company changed to an           Oldsmobile dealership at one time . It is           now again a Ford dealership owned by Greg       Loudon and is located on Valley Street
The Minerva Mill was on Line Street
   just east of Market street
  President McKinleys farm was not in Minerva , but
    was about one and one half miles east of Minerva
