( F ) JESUS AND ELI ----------------------------------------------------------------- Isaiah wrote of persons who go backward ( Isa. 28:13 ), that they are broken and such was the case of Eli; 18. And it came to pass, when he made mention of the ark of God, that he fell from off the seat backward by the side of the gate, and his neck brake, and he died: for he was an old man, and heavy. And he had judged Israel forty years. - 1 Samuel 4:18 13. But the word of the Lord was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken. - Isaiah 28:13 Jesus Christ is also a priest of God, the high priest of the Lord. The priesthood of Jesus Christ is an unchangable priesthood whose power is everlasting life ( Hebrews 7:14-16 & 22-28 ) . It is interesting to take special note that the scriptures take time to mention that when Jesus dies for mankind none of His bones are broken; 30. When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost. 31. The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away. 32. Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with him. 33. But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs: 34. But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water. 35. And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe. 36. For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken. 37. And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced. - John 19:30-37 19. Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all. 20. He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken. - Psalms 34:19-20 5. Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth. 6. In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS. - Jeremiah 23:5-6 From these scriptural examples is written of two priests of God, Eli and Jesus Christ. One priest, Eli, was wicked before God and thus his neck bones were broken as he died. The other priest, the Lord Jesus Christ, is the Righteousness of God because He is God. Therefore, none of His bones were broken according to scripture. Due to a complete scriptural absence of any " slain in the Spirit " activity, coupled with a study of the character profile of people who fall or go backward, clearly reveals the corruption of the " slain in the Spirit " activity. Such activity is not of God nor approved by Him. ------------------------------------------------------------ |
