C. M. S. College, Kottayam, Kerala, IndiaCMS. College, Kottayam is one of the first Colleges in Kerala. Vidhya Sangraham (1864) started by Principal, Rev. Richard Collins is the first College Magazine of Kerala .Col.Munro started "Padithaveedu" in 1815-16, which was later trifurcated to Old Seminary, CMS High School and Kottayam College. In 1836, College was shifted to the present campus. John Chapman was the first Principal. The College got affiliated to the Madras University in 1855. F.N Askwith constructed new buildings. In 1950 Degree classes started. CMS College campus is 40 acres. The "Grate Hall" was the stage of cultural activities of Kottayam. Former President K.R. Narayanan, KPS Menon, Dr.George Sudarsanan, Kadammanitta, John Abraham etc are among the prominent alumni. Prof. P. T. Abraham was the principal when I was a student of B. Sc. (Physics). Prof. P. T. John was the Head of the Dept. of Physics. Reknowned poet Cheravally Sasi was one of my Malayalam Teachers. |
