What Is BDSM and Where Do I Learn More??

BDSM is an alternative lifestyle. It is Not abuse, Not an aberration, and Not a sign of mental illness. BDSM is an inclusive acronym combining
(B)ondage and (D)iscipline
(D)ominance and (S)ubmission

and (S)ado(M)asochistic play.
Consent and Communication are integral elements of BDSM, as are Trust and Respect.

A munch is a casual get-together, usually for lunch or dinner, of BDSM people. They take place in public places, so there is no BDSM "play" or fetish wear. It is a place where like-minded couples and individuals can meet and chat, getting to know each other as people and friends.

Local communities have two main purposes. The first is to let those interested or involved in BDSM in the area know they are not alone. The second is to open lines of communication and education to encourage safe, sane and consensual play. In addition to the holding regular munches, which give a safe and casual atmosphere in which to get to know other local like minded people, most communities hold educational demonstrations and workshops to give their members an opportunity to increase their knowledge and skill levels.

Most communities are open to any adult, 18 years of age or older, who is mature, interested or involved in BDSM (spanking, bondage, Dominance, submission, S/M) or fetish activities, and who will act respectfully and discreetly. No harassment of other members should be tolerated and the munches are not a place to "pick up" a partner. To find a community close to you,
