Roundball
101
This is an offensive drill that
teaches players to use good footwork to step past a defender and drive
to the basket. A good drill for any age level because the crossing step
provides ball protection.
This is a great conditioning and
footwork drill. I run this each practice and finish with foul shooting.
Better
Shooting
You want to be a better shooter
but you can’t get to the gym everyday? Here is a
drill you can do at home to
improve your shooting.
-
Get a basketball and lay flat
on the floor facing the ceiling.
-
Hold the ball in your normal shooting
position.
-
Aim for a spot in mid-air and
shoot the ball. Concentrate on shooting straight, rotation and following
through. Hit the same mid-air spot each time.
-
Shoot one set of 10 repetitions
and switch to the other hand.
-
Repeat the drill until you have
completed 5 sets of 10 reps with both hands.
-
Shots don’t count if the ball
hits the ceiling, doesn’t go straight up, or if you have to move to catch
the ball.
This drill will help smooth out
your shooting and develop your concentration. It
will also develop your off-hand.
The reps will improve your strength. Aim higher
as you get stronger and better.
I give this
test to my team. After I grade the papers I know what things I should reinforce
in practice. Click the title to browse the test.
