February 1-5 |
February 1, 2002 Contrary to the rumors that THE COMPANY has been spreading, there have been NO contracts signed by any other ExxonMobil location at this time. These same rumors are being spread at every refinery by local management. The company's offer to the Workman's Committee addressed NONE of the local issues we are seeking. In fact, their "proposal" actually is a regression from the current contract, with regard to local issues. Other ExxonMobil locations have actually made significant gains on local issues, and are pleased with the way they have been treated by their local management, with no "concessions" from the Union. By working together, we will be able to thwart management's efforts at a substandard contract, and we will be able to bring ther BLATANT LIES to the surface! We continue to communicate with other PACE locals in order to coordinate our efforts and help each other negotiate the best contracts possible. We will continue to keep you informed with our progress as it occurs. |
February 4, 2002 We had in depth discussions with International and our sister locals today regarding the medical plan contribution section of the National Package. The medical and dental plan language the company offered to three of the four ExxonMobil locations in bargaining (which includes Billings) was approved by the International today. This plan does not meet the 80/20 provision the National Package stipulated. ExxonMobil’s offer was accepted because ExxonMobil is one of the few companies that offer the same coverage to annuitants as it does to regular employees. This offer ensures that we will not be treated any differently than ANY other employee under the ExxonMobil Medical and Dental Plans. The committee meets with the company tomorrow at 7:30 am to hammer out local issues, the results of which will determine whether or not we get an acceptable contract. |
February 5, 2002 The Union met with the company this morning and presented them with our latest proposal on local issues. The meeting was short-lived, and we continue to spend many more hours away from the table than we do in actual bargaining. The company summarily rejected ALL Union proposals. They stated that they feel their last offer met the National Pattern. At this time, the offer has been rejected – the International has problems with some of the contract language. Following is a list of the Union’s proposal on Local Issues: ~~The Company will implement the Union Security Clause labeled Union proposal #1. ~~The Union shall have the right to apply the Company’s medical and dental subsidies to the carrier of its choice. ~~Appendix B Progression Chart Process Division will be amended as follows: Eliminate “The above is as of February 1,1993, and is subject to change as workload changes in the future” clause that appears at the bottom of the chart. The chart will reflect the structure of the Process Department as proposed by the Union. ~~Article XII, Section 2 shall be amended to read: b. Employees hired as road oil seasonal extras shall assume the status of regular employees when they have accumulated 1000 hours worked. ~~Employees in the Mechanical, Lab and Warehouse Divisions will earn the equivalent of Operator ‘A’ rate after 7 years of Company service. ~~Letter of Agreement – Medical and Dental Plan changes. The company continues their long-standing tradition of chiseling on the National Package and gutting the contract. With the continued strong support of the Body and the Emergency Response Teams, the Union will continue to try to get these people to bargain. To demonstrate the company’s attitude towards these negotiations, they originally told us that it was not possible to get a thrift fund loan during a strike or lockout. They have decided to tell us the truth and now say it is possible to get a loan during a work stoppage. They still haven’t given us all the information we asked for regarding medical insurance if there is a work stoppage. The other PACE Locals in ExxonMobil didn’t have a problem getting this information. What’s up with that? |
