Remember, there is going to be an informational meeting concerning the contract offer that has been proposed, on Tuesday the 12th. The vote to accept or reject this offer will be on Wednesday the 13th. The polls will be open from 5:00 am to 6:30 pm. For those people working Tuesday night, any questions you may have can be asked when you come to vote on Wednesday. The Workman’s Committee will be there all day.
The company was quick to point out to the salaried people today that this offer has no local issues that they consider take-aways. While it may be true that there is nothing on paper that is given away, it is what they have been taking from us for years that our local issues addressed. That is what the medical/dental proposal and progression chart/ROSE proposals were about. These protections are important for us and would stop some erosion of our benefits and workforce.
After long discussions, your Workman’s Committee decided to take this proposal to you, the membership. And, in the same democratic process used to make that decision, the Committee is also going to recommend that this proposal be rejected. The Committee still believes in the principles that they brought to the bargaining table, that is why they made this recommendation. But ultimately, it is up to the entire membership to decide. Be sure to cast your vote. |
