Dan & Penny Germain
We more or less officially retired in April of 2003, but we had to wait for our new Safari Trek motorhome to be built until June 20, when we went down to Coburg Oregon (near Eugene) and picked it up almost at the factory. We travelled around Oregon for about 3 1/2 weeks doing a 'shakedown' trip, getting some of the bugs worked out of it.

The pictures here start with the shakedown trip in June/July, and then continue on with September 2003 when we left for our first big Trek around the U.S. in our new home on wheels. We started out in central Oregon and worked our way across the country. It has been interesting, educational, and fun and we have seen a lot of country that we have always wanted to visit.

We travelled as much as possible on 2-lane roads, as we detest interstates.

The page: "2004: Key West and Beyond" is a second index page with links to photo pages of the second half of our trip.

We arrived back in Washington after 7 months and 17,000 miles. We saw a lot of interesting country and ran into a lot of cold, windy weather, but we did have fun.

We are looking forward to hitting the road again!
