physical description

The former Gryffindor boy comes in at an average height of 5’8” with a somewhat pudgy figure, though he has recently lost a large bit of weight due to the constant stress and movement (especially in the wild) of his new career. He has a round face that includes two big, brown eyes much like that of a puppy dog. His teeth are a bit crooked though nothing that attracts too much attention. And Neville’s hair is a medium brown color and kept a bit cropped to his head now that he's gotten older.
personality

With a notoriously bad memory and a bit of a clumsy nature, Neville isn’t exactly the most eloquent of beings. He’s somewhat shy and generally embarrasses and scares easily, though his Gryffindor streak is quite fierce when agitated. He’d willingly lay down his life for his friends and family and is loyal to a fault. His general awkwardness is well redeemed by his devotion and hidden bravery.

Likes: Herbology, his Mimbulus Mimbletonia, Dumbledore’s Army, candy, his Rememberall.

Dislikes: flying, cockiness, promiscuity.

history
Neville was born to the Aurors Frank and Alice Longbottom on July 30th, 1980. When he was younger, his parents were fierce fighters against the Dark Lord and suffered torture from the Cruciatus Curse during battle when Neville was just a babe. Afterwards, his parents were diagnosed with insanity, driven so by the curse, and were permanently placed in St. Mungo’s Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries in a closed ward. He was then raised by his paternal grandmother, Augusta, or as he refers to her - Gran. His grandmother and he often visited his parents at the hospital, though Alice and Frank had no recollection of their son and it obviously distressed the young Mr. Longbottom, though he kept the situation concerning his parents a secret from most. Living with his Gran, it was somewhat understandable that Neville could be as meek as he was at times for Augusta was a strict disciplinarian and perfectionist. It was obvious how disappointed she could be by her clumsy and forgetful grandson, despite how much she loves him. However, in the face of such setbacks, Neville has grew to excel in several subjects, especially in his sixth year when he got his new wand, and gained tremendous amounts of confidence when he succeeded within Dumbledore's Army. Though, that paled when compared to the bravery he showed during the Battle at Hogwarts against Lord Voldemort during his seventh year. Though much of the media has died down about the Battle itself, he still passes gawking folk every now and then on the street corner -- continuing to turn the ever shy Longbottom a deep shade of red.

Neville now lives alone in a flat thats complete with a small research room in Diagon Alley, a short ways from Weasleys Wizard Wheezes, and travels from there to exotic locations in search of rare plants.

Other: In Harry Potter’s fifth year, Headmaster Albus Dumbledore informs Harry that the prophecy concerning him and Lord Voldemort could have actually been about Neville. It was only Voldemort’s actions of singling out Harry that made him the Dark Lord’s true enemy. The Prophecy goes as follows “The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches...Born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies...and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not...and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives...” Both Harry and Neville met the requirements but it was Lord Voldemort’s doing of marking Harry as his equal that made the difference.
