Creating a Transparent Spray
Transparecny is a post-production porcess you do this bit after you've done your design. The design you have done whether it be on multiple layers or not, is made to be transparent after you have designed it because it does not involve keying a colour to be transparent like some idiots have advised. GIMP and Adobe PhotoShop are the main programs used for this process because it can be done simply and quickly. As i have more experience with PhotoShop i shall tell you how to make your sprays easier to come back to and create far more advanced sparys. Also do NOT save your tga fiels with RLE compression
GIMP:
-
Create a new image with background set as transparent
-
Copy/Paste or draw your logo
-
Save the logo as a Targa (.tga)
PhotoShop:
-
Create a new image with a white background
-
Now fill this with a colour contrasting to your design
-
Copy/Paste or draw you logo on this layer
-
Now Ctrl+Click Layer 1 it should have a selection on it now. If not do it again.
-
Click on Channels Tab, Add new channel
-
Press delete and the selection should turn white
-
Save the logo as a Targa (.tga)
Now PhotoShop can have many layers for your design such as in the spray i did for Toxic Skidz his old spray was low res but had god design so i made everything again in high res and seperately. The skull, crosshair, writing and border are all on different layers. This allowed me to freely move the parts until they sat perfectly. Now as long as your layer is visible it will be included within the tga file. So with all visible you Ctrl+Shift+Click the desired layers then add the new channel then delete selection and finally save it. |
