Dog Heaven has clear, wide lakes filled with geese who honk and flap and tease. The dogs love this. They run beside the water and bark and bark and God watches them from behind a tree and smiles. |
JD Crosby May 21, 1998 to July 5, 2002 JD came to us the summer of 1998, as a roly poly, fuzzy-furry puppy of six weeks. Adopted by our oldest son Mark from a home near Steamboat Springs, Colorado, JD was part Golden Retriever, German Shepherd, and Siberian Husky. His beautiful eyes and his quiet, confident manner won Mark’s heart instantly, and JD became a huge part of his life, and later ours, as we took him into our hearts and our home when Mark was unable to keep him in an apartment. JD loved his big brother, our German Shepherd, Crogan, who was always seen playing with JD, or teasing him, or reprimanding him when he deemed it necessary. JD and Crogan loved to play fetch in the back yard together, and also loved to play tug of war with each other, using a stick or a rubber ring. JD helped Crogan raise all the baby kittens that we Crosbys so often have in our household, and he loved to chase them up our trees, and sleep with them on our couch. JD’s favorite game was the Sparkly Game. To play the Sparkly Game, JD would stand in the kitchen and wait for the sunlight to come through the west window at just the right angle. When it did, he would ask, with his eyes and with his smile, for me, or anyone else available, to shine the light off a metallic object, usually a watchband, and make sparkly dancing lights on the walls and floor. He would chase these sparklies, barking and leaping and digging at them. He is the inventor of the Sparkly Game, and is playing it with God and the Angels in Heaven, where sparkly lights are everywhere. JD left us suddenly and tragically on Friday, July 5th, 2002. After having battled severe epilepsy for 2 ½ years, he was hit by a train while out on a walk with his daddy. He should have died instantly, but instead, my brave little boy waited for his daddy to come back and get him with the car. He died in his daddy's arms, a smile on his beautiful furry face and pure love and trust in his eyes. He is buried in our backyard beneath our lilac bushes, and we have planted a Prairie Joy rose bush on his grave in his honor, because his love for us was so pure and innocent and unconditional. Our lives will never be the same without him. He was our smilin', talkin' dog, and we only wish we could have kept him with us longer. Farewell, little guy. We will love you forever, and will see you at the Rainbow Bridge one day. Love, Mommy, Daddy, Mark, Andy, Kate, German Shepherd Best Buddy Crogan, and your very own three kitties, Cleo, Sam, and Alex |

~ Your Pain Is My Pain ~ The tears your cheeks they stain, I too feel your pain. When you hurt my heart cries for you, All I can say is I’m here for you. With a shoulder to lean on when things get rough, It’s alright for you to hurt there’s no need to be tough. Let me share what hurts your heart, Please don’t shut me out let me do my part. I can’t make it go away, But I can promise you it’s not here to stay. There will again be days of blue skies, When tears no longer glisten in your eyes. Until that day, my love I am here, To hold your hand and ease your fear. ~ Angel Watchin ~ |
