Before the establishment of the “Law” Covenant with Israel mediated by Moses, God made an eternal Covenant with humanity mediated by Noah. This Covenant had the portion of commands, decrees, and laws in God's Earthly Kingdom that can never be made null and void (Gen.8:20-9:17). Three hundred and sixty seven years after making this Covenant with Noah (see Gen.11:10-32;Gen.12:4 for year total)God finally finds the right man (Abraham) to make of him a great nation ( Gen.12:1-3) through Isaac (Gen.26:1-5) and Jacob ( Gen.35:9-12) and bring the Promised Christ out from this nation. ( Gen.12:1-3;15:13-21; 17:1-21 Rom.3:1-2; 4:1-25; 9:4-5; Gal.3:8; Heb.11:8-19). The land to this nation (Israel) was to be a permanent possession as a base to evangelize the world ( Gen.12:1-3;12:7;13:14-18; 15:18-21;17:7-19~Note:From the time of Abraham, it took four hundred and thirty years before Israel was ready to enter the Promised Land.( Ex.12:40) |

God made choice of Abram ( later called Abraham) for his obedient faith. He led the seventy five year old from Ur to Canaan. Once there, God assured Abram through a vision that his descendants will be as numerous as the stars( Gen.15:1-5 ) . |

The Lord also assured Abraham of inheriting the land during this vision. This prompted Abraham to inquire of the time of actually taking possession of it ( Gen.15:7-8 ). The Lord told Abraham to offer sacrifices(which pictured the "the good things to come" Heb.8-10 ) and prophesied to him that his descendants would be "strangers in a country not their own and they would be enslaved and mistreated 400 years"(" Gen.15:9-13 After the 400 years were up, God was to "punish the nation they serve as slaves" and "they will come out with great possessions"( Gen.15:14 fulfilled in Ex.12 ).The Israelites were to return to Canaan to punish the Amorite nation living in the Promised land for its sins( Gen.15:16 |
