Upcoming films where we find Mr Caviezel working or committed to projects, we move news to this page as we confirm the details. Films featured here are newly announced, in development and lack release dates.
This page also features Mr Caviezel’s other work as a storyteller.
Telling Stories With Film
The film making process is complex, variable and unpredictable. Apparently Mr Caviezel takes on projects that he can believe in. That’s the only sure thing we know about why a film or other project shows up on this page.
From story to script, from green light to casting, from principal photography to editing, from sound effects to music, from marketing to distribution—between and among any of these events, we will tell you what we know, with no guarantees about when we can all enjoy these stories in the film house.

Brother Bill
Posted April 8, 2002
From a recent interview with the Independent, Mr Caviezel tells us [actually, the reporter tells us, in error] that he’s just finished shooting "...‘Brother Bill’, about a real-life Catholic lay-worker, Bill Tomes, who stops gun fights in Chicago’s drug-infested ghettoes by standing in the way of the bullets".
Backgrounders:
- Joel Reese apparently published an article about Brother Bill Tomes in the Daily Harold on July 30, 1998. The geography mentioned is two Cabrini-Green buildings, which occupy a Chicago neighborhood.
- Chicago’s Ron Stodghill II wrote about it for Time in April 1998.
We’re researching this rumour, however well-sourced, and will bring you details about the Mr Caviezel’s participation in the film as soon as we can.
Posted May 12, 2002, Archived May 20, 2002
We’re still looking for details about “Brother Bill”, and alas, have come up empty in nearly a month of looking.
We can only speculate that it, like “Resurrection”, is a secular project that will show up one day.
De-archived and Updated August 7, 2002
We understand that this film is still in development, is to be co-produced by Judge Reinhold, who will play opposite Mr Caviezel, from a script by Angelo Pizzo (“Rudy” and “Hoosiers”).
Updated December 4, 2003, thanks to LMG: posted December 8, thanx to MW
From the Chicago Tribute, Terry Armour’s recent column, we learn...
[Judge Reinhold news, followed by] “But Reinhold tells Armour & Co. he’s also producing an independent film about ‘BROTHER BILL’ TOMES, the Catholic archdiocese’s youth minister who has worked with warring gangs to bring calm to the Cabrini-Green housing project. His plan is to begin filming in Chicago next fall. ‘It’s got to be filmed in Chicago,’ said Reinhold, who will be in town when Tomes helps honor BISHOP EDWIN CONWAY for Catholic Charities on Nov. 17. ‘Chicago is really a character in the story. Bill would literally take gang members and drive them around in his Buick, showing them another side of life.’”

Twilight Zone Radio Dramas
Added August 30, 2002 Thanks to EI
Carl Amari, Executive Producer of "Madison", included Mr Caviezel with other AFTRA actors in his Falcon Picture Group’s radio adaptations of all of the TV Twilight Zone© scripts.
Published plans propose that the Twilight Zone radio dramas will air on hundreds of radio stations from coast to coast in the US, beginning in October 2002.
Falcon also plans to produce a total of 15 CD and audio cassette volumes, each with some number of programs. Volume 1, where Mr Caviezel reads “A Hundred Yards Over the Rim” is apparently available now.
Yes, yes, we know that radio is not film, but remember: we need stories like we need air, and we are happy to listen to Mr Caviezel tell us a story however he wants to.
Updated September 1, 2002; Link activated September 7, 2002 thanks to CA
As a point of clarification, these editions are full-cast radio dramatizations with all the performers acting, not simply script ‘readings’.
“A Hundred Yards Over the Rim” originally starred Cliff Robertson. According to one source, Mr Caviezel’s performance is “...of course, terrific”.
As an update to the original press release, the project plans to deliver 150 episodes in 35 collections, and you can find them on twilightzoneradio.com by the first week in September.
Update August 5, 2005 thanks to DM
We are woefully tardy in posting this note, and indeed want you to know that Mr Caviezel also stars in the fifth collection of the radio dramas. From the cover:
In “Back There” Starring Jim Caviezel, a man travels back in time to the date of President Lincoln’s assassination in the hope of saving him. Will his presence have any impact at all and can he actually change history?”
You can order the radio dramas online, by phone, by mail or by fax. Visit the Web site to learn more about the radio dramas you want.
