The History of Scyjavor

Please note that Scyjavor exists on an entirely alternate timeline, meaning that Lessa and F'lar may have very well existed, but they did not bring the dragons ahead hundreds of turns, and that although AIVAS was discovered, it was substancially damaged and unable to eliminate thread.

The thirteenth pass arrived on time, and was, in all ways, a completely normal pass. The Holds and Halls once again became indebted to the Weyrs, and there was little outward spreading of the holds and halls, as all of the energies of both were already targeted towards surviving the pass. However, after the thirteenth pass, there was a long interval, in which the dragon population decreased drastically. Holds and Halls began to feel extremely safe, and doubted the return of thread, spreading throughout much of the Southern Continent and settling it. However, the Red Star appeared close some 300 years after it had formerly come, and the Weyrleaders and Weyrwomen suffered many pains in convincing the Holds and Halls that Thread was indeed due to return.

When the first Threadfall of the Fourteenth Pass occured, it quickly became obvious that there were not as many dragons remaining as was needed to protect both the Northern and the Southern Continents from Threadfall. As a result, many Holders relocated to the Northern Continent, as did all of the southern Weyrs. The southern continent was essentially deserted for quite some time.

By the time of the Sixteenth Pass, the dragon population had grown immensely, and several of the northern Weyrs had become massively overcrowded. In an attempt to disperse some of the riders, it was decided that the Southern Continent would be resettled, the first Weyr established being Long River Weyr, followed by FireHeart and Pegasus. However, a massive earthquake caused the collapse of Scyjavor Weyr's caldera, killing most of the riders. Of the two remaining goldriders, one returned to Fort Weyr, while the younger, Tsycri, was chosen to open one of the old Weyrs of the south. She renamed the Weyr Scyjavor, in rememberence to the three goldriders at Long River- Scynna, Kirjava, and Orali.

Relationships between the holds, halls, and Weyrs were relatively stable until Orican, the heir of SeaStar Hold, died due to injuries inflicted upon him by a Pegasus weyrling during a gather. With tensions running high once more, the Weyrs are struggling to maintain peace between the different branches of Pern society and encourage resettlement of the Southern Continent once more.

However, through the darkness, there was a ray of light- several northern Weyrs were becoming frustrated with the fact that there had been only one clutch on the Southern continent since Scyjavor's relocation, and that at FireHeart. A strong fighting force in the South was desperately needed, and the northern Weyrleaders quickly hit upon what they thought was their only option- taking several eggs from recent clutches and giving them to Scyjavor Weyr. Twenty-six eggs, one of which is gold, now grace the sands, guarded by Azurath in his quite honorable efforts.
