Led by Shamrock Sean, the Merchant Federation is a labyrinthe organisation of bureaucrats and merchant officials from many worlds that has infiltrated itself throughout the galaxy. Merchant Federation Freigthers, hauling cargo between far-flung stars of the galaxy, were a familiar sight in orbit above many civilized worlds.
The Federation are so powerful that it was represented in the Pioneer Senate. It's Senator Shamrock Sean, uses bureaucraticlies and procedurals tricks to further the Federation aims from his seat in the senate.
Sean however could not stop the takeover from Emperor Sanitarium and his Establishment army. He abandoned the Federation and was rumoured to have joined the Establishment.
Merchant Federation Freighters seem harmless from a distance. Enemies are lulled into a false sense of security, until the heavy quadlaser batteries start firing. To carry their forces they secretly converted its commerical freighter fleet into battleships, replete with shields, blaster turrets, and military communication arrays.
These disguised war freighters hide the deadly battle machines until they are right on top of their enemies. In their history they move often and attack enemies where they know they have a superior strength of arms, therefore some men very rarely face combat often.
During the Pioneer Wars, regrettably the Establishment knew the in's and outs of the Merchant Federations forces, and were no match for the battle harden Hurricane Troopers.
The Federation reside from the planet Black Label and their base of trade operations comes for it's capital Super Supreme.
MERCHANT FEDERATION FORCES
The Federation Royal Security includes the Federation Guard, Security Guard and the Space Fighter Corps.
The Federation Guard is the highly-trained bodyguard of Senator Sean and tribual. While the Security Guard function as a militia, the Federation Guard is made up of dedicated soldiers who typically battle off-planet and return in loyalty to Shamrock Sean. They are the backbone of Federation Security.
The Security Guard is the regular infantry, with only 20,000 in numbers they are no defense force and although well trained they are no match against the Establishment forces that land on Black Label and are only able to prolong the forgone conclusion. Each carries a TZ-5 blaster build to last.
The Space Fighter Corps, usual missions are routine patrols, escort duties to Pasim for Senate sittings or parade flights. Lack of combat means many pilots gain experience off-planet flying with rogue groups, or on the rare patrol where they encounter troublemakers.
They are not the dangerous bunch of space pilots in the galaxy, nonetheless they are ready for action. They number a mere 600 pilots, but with the military cut backs Sean brought in the army was reduced and now there are only 550 P-3 Starfighters to fly.
P-3 Starfighters sport radial engines of League Alliance design in a P-configuration space frame. Assisted by an astromech droid, the starfighters are fast and agile, and prone to uncontrollable spins when engines suffer damage. Their main weaponry is a Arclite Shock Cannons and Twin Autocannons. The Shock Cannon can render an enemy fighter useless as it shuts down all electricial and computer systems on board.
When the Establishment is defeated the Merchant Federation slowly begin to reform, but the majority of survivors stay with the Confederacy. After their planet was destroyed the small band of survivors linked with the Confederacy to bring down the Emperor and his Pith Lords, restoring peace and justice to the galaxy. |
