Texas Uniforms in the Civil War
This site is intended as a resource for skirmishing or reenacting units who desire to portray Texas confederate troops, with an emphasis on the generic uniforms of each theater worn in mid- and late- war. Texans initally went off to war in a bewildering array of locally made uniforms (such as the "circus rider shirt" worn by some members of Good's Texas Battery). As the war progressed, uniforms were supplied by the regional depots, thus making it possible to be accurate in depicting the uniforms worn in each theater. An invalbuable resource on original uniforms is Echos of Glory- Arms and Equipment of the Confederacy by Time-Life Books, which will be referenced in each section.
