| OKAY..... if you've never read J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Hobbit," you probably don't know about the various types of "people." If you're one of those, well here I am to explain to you! In Tolkien's novel, "The Hobbit," Tolkien introduces interesting fantasy "person-types." The first is the hobbit! |
| Hobbits |
| What do they look like??? A hobbit is the most interesting kind of character. You may be asking, what do they look like? Hobbits (3-5 feet tall) are shorter than dwarves (believe it or not!) They have curly hair. Their feet are big and very hairy, just like a natural shoe! Hobbits are naturally plump as well! What do they like doing??? Hobbits are very home-attached. They love peace and quiet and enjoy having lots of meals! They, being so cheerful as they are, sing songs, smoke pipes, and enjoy having parties! Infact, a hobbit birthday party does not involve receiving gifts at all! As generous as these gentle quiet creatures are, they give gifts to their birthday guests! (maybe I'll attend one!) Never ask them about they're family (which are at normal, big) background! Hobbits are very family-oriented and LOVE to tell stories about them or stories overall! Ask them for a story and they chatter and chatter and chatter your ear off! Hobbits dispise adventurous journeys however. A story of an adventure is interesting to them, but to go on an adventure is a totally different story! |
| Well, I supposed thats enough about hobbits! (Well... not really.... but... oh okay, Hobbits are my fave!) Lets continue on to elves! (Oohs and Aahs from the crowd) Samwise the hobbit always wanted to see elves! |

| What do they look like?? Hmm... I must say elves are very mystical... they have those pointed ears and long light hair. They are tall. The elves are very wise and intelligent, as well as immortal. They do not age as man and any other person does (gee... can I be an elf mom????) I can tell you the world about hobbits, but when it comes to the elves, I'm lost...... for one part, there are great warriors, very graceful. Legolas, for example, carries bow and arrows for defense and he is a woodland elf! They have very sensitive hearing and cannot take listening to the words of mordor. |
| Dwarves |
| What do they look like??? We ALL know dwarves are short! But they are just a bit taller than hobbits! Dwarves grow loooong beards! Even the women have beards! o.o What do they do??? Dwarves are 100% miners! They mine in caves and carry an ax as their weapon (as used to mine as well.) Dwarves can get quite feisty when the days are at war and are very proud of who they are. |
| Man (human) I'm a human, you're a human, we all know human behavior and I pity those who dont know.... Some are loyal, some are cheaters, some want power, some want to save the enviroment/world. In this story, the men have kings as ruler, not presidents. Thats basically the only difference between me, you, and the humans in Lord of the Rings. |
| Wizards Wizards are, what you might want to think, protectors of the land. They were sent to protect Middle Earth. Their knowledge is vast and they are very wise, far wiser than man or hobbit. Naturally, being wizards, they carry staffs of power with them and do power themselves. If the One Ring were to reach any wizard, the danger would be great due to the vast power of wizards, giving the Ring a much greater effect on them! No, Gandalf, you can't have the Ring! |
| Ents "Hoom Hum!" says Treebeard, eldest and wisest ent of them all. What are ents exactly??? Strange as the name is, ents are bit tree-like creatures! They aren't too hasty... that's their nature! Slow to move, and slow to talk, but not dumb! Many of them are growing hard and turning into non-moving trees, so you dont find many around! If I were a hobbit in the Lorien forrest, I'd watch the trees above me! |
