Here at Swan Collies, we breed infrequently and with the intent of producing
normal-eyed collies of correct conformation, genetic health, correct head
properties, and sound temperament. Health, temperament, and beauty are all
equally important goals in our breeding program. We screen for hips, thyroid
function, cardiac function and CEA. Pedigrees are
carefully researched and paired before any breedings are undertaken. Pedigrees
on available pups can be sent upon request, but prospective owners must be able to meet
certain requirements before adding a Swan Collie puppy to their family. Quality
of life is of UTMOST importance in the placement of our puppies. All dogs sold
are placed with a health guarantee.
"Quality, not quantity" is a concept followed here.
The number of genetic diseases in the collie breed has increased dramatically
over the last 20 years. Buyers need to be aware of health issues in the breed
and ask many questions before committing to buying a collie for their
family.
I feel that anyone interested in purchasing a collie would do well to look to
the kennels that have been around a long time. Quality not only shows, it lasts.
A great deal can be gleaned from watching and emulating those who have
consistently produced healthy, winning stock through the years.

Swan Collies was born out of a passion to have, show, love, and produce
collies that exemplify the ideal. That "perfect" collie with "perfect" health
lurks just around the corner and on just the other side of every
well-intentioned breeding. I share this passion with many devoted collie
enthusiasts. My personal intent is to breed carefully and with integrity,
understanding always that success is measured in the joy found along the way. My
hope is to have a positive impact upon the breed, however small, and upon the
lives of the people touched by these special dogs. I look forward to the
