| Suzaku: The Phoenix ~God of the South~ |
| Suzaku; Also known as the red bird, sacred bird or the phoenix of Chinese Mythology. It represents the south (Konan is the southern-most country in FY) summer, fire, the planet Mars, and the body parts Heart and Large Intestine. It is said to represent male and female becomming one through love (the japanese for Phoenix ~I think~ is Houou; Hou is male, Ou is female) Unlike the Western version of the phoenix, the Chinese legend doesn't ay anything about the bird being able to die and be re-born or anything like that. It is, however, still a beautiful very similar to an ornamental pheasent. |
| "Suzaku" is thought to only be a name; translating into "red sparrow" or "peacock". The star constellation of Suzaku (western:the Phoenix)) is the God of the South, and the shichi seishi (seven constellations) of Suzaku are Tamahome (Cancer: the crab), Hotohori (Alphard, held by Hydra), Nuriko (Hydra: the water serpent), Chichiri (Gemini: the twins), Tasuki (Crater: the goblet), Mitsukake (Corvus: the crow) and Chiriko (Part of Hydra, but I'm not sure what it's called... The "Key Star" is Nu Hya) |
