Tangrams . . . a square divided into seven pieces which then come together to create incredibly elegant pictures of nearly anything -- from people figures to animals, birds, boats, clothing, everyday utensils, and scenic views.
There are many theories concerning how tangrams came to be, and why they are called "tangrams."
Rather than exploring the how and why, here is the basic square divided (and the rectangle). Let's look at some figures and explore what can be done with the pieces.
