We also then moved to the far south of the South Island of NEW ZEALAND  to live on an ancient rainforest acreage next to the Southern Alps and Fjordland. NORWAY  though will always have the most special place in my heart.  These wild cold temperate maritime windy climes constantly shaping whom I am etching my spirit. Since then I have made the world my home and travelled and lived afar.   Home in the mind for me is "TIGANNA MARRABONA" my sub-alpine 100 acres of Rainforest in the highlands of Northern Tasmania. the place I will always return but a nomad will always wander as I have over many a lifetime. WHAT DO I DO?

Jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none! I have always delighted in my practical intelligence and ability to over come adversity? I never wanted to be narrowed and limited by a traditional career.- this taking a back seat to experience in life wherever that road took me. After a failed attempt at starting University I left to follow the "inner road" that lead me first to Norway and well beyond. I have tried to live by intuition - sometimes winning sometimes not. ..... the Chinese call this "Tao"...... to follow the way. 

I have since been a Forest Ranger in New Zealand, Wildlife Keeper of Tassie Devils in TASMANIA, Paperboy in Denmark, Dairy Farm Hand in Norway, Boatman/handyman/ Land Rover mechanic in the West Indies, Rolls Royce Restorer in London England, furnace man in an Aluminium Smelter, Quality Assurance Auditor, Eco-tourism Manager and even self employed selling Wild bushfoods and wild flowers (all in Tasmania), Heavy labourer in a factory in Melbourne Australia and most recently Goat Herdsman in the Norwegian Fjords of the mountainous west coast.  I have even been  back at school in Launceston Tasmania studying Graphic and Webpage Design! Since being in the UK I have been Butler/Gardener and a Security Guard....  Life did fundamentally change from me in May 2003 then i became very ill and was diagnosed with MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS . This however is just now providing me with fresh challenges to redefine my life. What next ? Lets see!

Myriad and eclectic!.... broadly life, living, communication, the environment that I live in, and the interactions of its peoples, plants and animals and geographic features that inhabit them. More specifically Environmental issues - politics (leaning Green and to the left), conservation, meteorology, Botany especially Gondwana flora - Tasmanian Alpines and Rainforest. World events, history, geography.  I revel in philosophy, informed debate, open and honest communication, sociology, traditional harmonious rural lifestyles, psychology. 

I have a great love of language and words manifesting itself in a love of writing poetry. See my POETRYpage for a few examples. Friendship and writing to distant friends is always important. Practically I love bushwalking, camping, skiing, old boats sailing and the ocean.  This love of sailing and the see has has recently manifested itself  with the  wonderful 70 year old river boat called "Wandering Albatross"  see the page I have created on YACHTING

Being in nature and just observing its powerful and awesome interplay. I like practical jobs with my hands - pulling things apart and seeing how they work. Working in the garden growing things or just being creative making practical things. I have an unconventional artistic streak that manifests its self in many ways - like the way I relate to life and living! I love old Cars and have a fleet that are ancient I keep alive - see my HILLMAN  and also my HUMBER page. There is much more if you want to know just ask. WHAT AM I LIKE?

Well there is a page of the "Temple that I Inhabit"....... but on the outside. I have been described as indescribable - too dynamic for mere labels. - because I have such a unconventional approach to life especially in the Western World. My own spiritual values are echoed largely in Buddhism and Taoism. I am not much of a materialist and live a great deal in my head. I have a very vivid and creative imagination I am very energetic and been told that I am like a "bolt of lightening" - incredibly powerful but almost impossible to contain, elusive and sometimes too dispersed with much energy wasted.... Could be true. I have also been told that I am "emotionally hyperactive" and by others THE "Energizer Bunny"! I love to dance and let my body speak to the music. For me it is a form of meditation and ritual a real expression of the passionate soul. I revel in my own physicality. once I start it is hard to stop....Humour is essential as oxygen to me, and  mine is very much of the dry and slightly cynical type favoured by Australians - rather irreverent to put it mildly, but also self depreciating! Never missing a chance to laugh at myself.

I have always had a good sound ego and feel eternally grateful for having the to most wonderful loving kind and considerate parents possible. My whole family I love dearly and we are all a very open eclectic and demonstrative lot. - tarred with the same brush! I have and open relationship with my family from the age of 15 being able to fully explain to them my inner being. They have accepted this with open arms as they have with the men that have been in my life. Having a loving and supportive relationship has always been an essential part of my adult life and has largely been the norm. I believe I am an open book; disarming, easy-going and earthy sort of guy that is passionate but never moody. I am sure the content of these pages will also give you a much deeper insight to who and what I am. If not ask!
