The Reading Tree is located at ....  We will work in conjunction with the Colton Unified School district.  Our goal is to help promote good reading.  We will be working closely with Administrators, Teachers, and parents at Grand Terrance Elementary School, which is located across the street from our facility.  In one years time we will reassess our progress and hope to open our program to other elementary schools in the Colton school district.

Targeted School Population   The targeted population of the Reading Tree is the students, grades kindergarten through second, who attend Grand Terrance Elementary School in the Colton Joint Unified School District.  Students who attend the Reading Tree must be identified, by the teachers, as students who need additional assistance in reading.

School State of Affairs    At Grand Terrance Elementary School, 52.5% of the student population are low-income students.  Only 24% of the student population scored at the proficient level on the English/Language Arts section of the California Standards Test during the 2004-2005 school year.
