ORIENTATION FOR ONLINE STUDENTS Before you do any course work, you must successfully complete the orientation. (I will not accept any assignments from you until you have completed your orientation.) You do this by sending an email to teca1354@hotmail.com. Pay particular attention to the syllabus instructions on what you should use for the subject line of your emails. In the body of an original email (not a reply or a forward), answer the 10 questions below. Do not send me the questions, just the answers. Number your answers in accordance with the questions, with each answer on a separate line. 1 What is your first and last name? Be sure to use the name under which you registered. 2 What is the first assignment? 3 If an assignment is turned in late, what must you do to received credit for it? 4 What is your preferred email address? You must have an email address in order to take an online course. 5 At what phone number can you be reached and when is the best time to call you? This is in case of an emergency. 6 What must you use as your subject line in emails for your course? Be precise! 7 How many assignments must you complete and what are they? 8 What is the first assignment and when is it due? 9 What is the final exam deadline date? 10 Read 'Ground Rules for Online Participation" (in your syllabus), "Academic Honesty" (in your syllabus), "Assignment Rules / Paper Directions" (in your syllabus), "Email Etiquette" , and "Textbooks". Type or copy & paste the following statement into #10. "I have read the five items assigned and understand the requirements." If you type in the statement without reading the five items, that's your call. However, I will take you at your word and expect you to know and follow the rules. If your orientation is incomplete or incorrect, I will send it back to you for corrections. Once you have successfully completed it, I will send you an email and you may begin your course. If you have any problems throughout the semester, you may always reach me at the email address above. If this is your first online course, you may be a little nervous. Relax... it's not that difficult and I think you will enjoy the experience once you get in the groove. Good luck in your coursework! |
