made by group of people who reside by Amphoe Kham
Moung of Kalasin Province where they produce "
Phrae wa " a famous silk weaving style , phrae-wa
fabric has been used for shouldercloth and in annual
religious ceremonies in the past. But now it has been
used for other purposes as well.

woven fabric has been done especially the people group
of Phuthai , the ethnic minority in Kham Muang and was
renowned for which the people called the Queen of Silk.

The Queen of silk in Thailand
.....Beginning
in November , B.E.2520 , The villagers recieved
significant encouragement from Their majesties the
King and the Queen of Thailand when they came to Baan
Pone , Amphur Kham Muang , Kalasin Province for their
annual visit. Her Majesty the Queen has interested
in phrae- wa patterned silk fabric which she has been seen
the villagers's dress. The Queen has mercifully confered
the silk thread to the villagers for weaving , and
the finished silk goods were being presented

Phrae-wa silk was designed in three types of quality
characteristic , 2 color yarns to weave called
lai-luang , 5 color yarns called lai-jok-dow
and 7- to 9 color yarns called lai-ko
designs. The structure of designing patterns on
fabrics can be classified
according to the techniques as follows :
1.Lai-dok
, the majority of patterns were appearing
on fabrics.
2.Lai-khun
, the horizontal-patterned designs.
3.Lai-cho
, the minority of patterns.
