As members were unable to access our usual meeting location on September 16th, we adjourned to the home of Joe Belecky for the afternoon. During the meeting we enjoyed a series of slides presented by Grant Miles that were taken  by his wife Barbara during her recent trip to Britain. In addition to railway locations at Toddington on the G&W Railway and Tenderton on the K&ESR, Barb also featured a series of houses that once again emphasises the "prototype for everything" that one may care to establish on one's layout.

Geoff Chandler provided a full report on his trip to France and Britain in August and September. Members will be aware by now that the Rail 2000 set for Darlington  and area waas cancelled, leaving publicized debts of 850 000 GBP. To fill the gap so to speak, Allan Mearns and Geoff Chandler spent a day on the NYMR. Some of the pictures taken on that day are featured with this newsletter ( see link below ) .

Last, but not least, Roy Hopkins, provided and interesting update on current events on Britains' railways by way of a slide presentation.

All three members who visitied Britain this Summer used BritRail passes. Geoff and his wife also used a French rail pass, which was flexible, but required pre-booking before leaving Canada if travelling by TGV.

Thamk you to Joe for his hospitality on the afternoon of the 26th and to al who made presentaions.

Our October meeting will be held on the 19th at the usual Elliott St.  location, 1300 - 1630. The video of the Railway Children will be available for viewing at the meeting. The book has been in print continuously for 93 years.
                 Model News

Rumour has it that Hornby will continue to super-detail more of its' locomotives in 2001 and wil produce two brand new models. something that has not occurred for many years: the companie relying on new liveries, super detailing and aquiring the dies from other companies. Also reports indicate that  Graham Farish continues to manufacture its locomotives at a high level of production pending take over by Bachmann iin January.
LNER A3 Flying Scotsman at Strathroy, Ontario in August 1970. The locomotive and its train were en route to the CNE. At that time, our club president and photographer was employed by the Department of Social and Familly services in the Strathroy area and made a point of taking an extended coffee break that morning at the station! The train was at Strathroy for about 45 minutes.
