In the U.S., all civilian airlines are part of the Civilian Reserve Air Force.  During peace time (when the U.S. is not in a declared war) the civilian airlines participate in the Military Airlift Command.  Better known as MAC.  When the Vietnam Vets finally gained recognition, they honored the flight attendants who carried them into the war zone and to their R and R outside of the war zone.  They were grateful to us because we gave them comfort and courage and brought them home.

The photo above is of some of those Flight Attendants so honored.

Little Known Fact !!!

Pat Bree and Siegfried Groh
Patricia Bree - Siegfried Groh - aka Mr. & Mrs. S. K. Groh
Now here's a little known fact:
How many of you knew that Pat was a glider pilot?
F/A Pat Bree was a student glider pilot when she met Siegfried Groh.  He is the holder of a Silver C certificate.   Now where else would they meet but at an airport!  Pat is retired from EAL and Sigi is retired from TWA.  They still cross the pond regularly to visit Sigi's family in Switzerland.
