| #19 Hoegsbo StreetCats (Frodo82) The controversial StreetCats are one of the more nationally known teams in the IICC. They were a last minute qualifier replacing the Tre Kroners who were ousted due to a failed drug test. The StreetCats have one thing on their minds at all times, winning! Their manager has been known to be very vocal and tends to use his verbal skills to get his players mentally ready for big games. The StreetCats have already proven they belong with some key victories in the early going of the IICC. They are also the only team in the IICC which has a website for its fans, you can visit them by clicking here. They are one of the top teams in the IICC despite being ranked #19, so managers should be ready to play their best when they face the StreetCats. They currently reign supreme in the land of 8-1-1-1. | Coach Says: (actually his words) We look forward to play in the IICC inaugural issue, to become one of the Original 20. We have come a long way since 1997.. During the franchise's first years in SLH, we were very much in need of our young pickup Markus Crawler, he could fire up to 30 shots a game down in league 2. Top that with his 30% scoring percentage and you get the deal.. We were disqualified from the Champions Shield three years in a row from 2005 to 2007 after winning first round victories each time. The first year was becouse of the Jimi Watchtower incident, the time the team was group-charged for the trashing of Vancouver City Hall.(Read more about the Jimi Watchtower incident by clicking here) In 2006, we actually ran out of funds and had to withdraw, and the year after the whole Champions Shield was cancelled so i guess what i just said was about 2/3 a lie.. Our strength is our width, we play like a team and help each other out, not like the other teams in Nordic that is. |
| Team Name Origin: (his words again) The StreetCats were formed in 1997 in Gothenburg, Sweden, playing Streethockey in a local league called HHHS. The name sprung out of the fact that we played on the local ashphalt, followed by the note that so many homeless kitties strawled the streets around there. You know streetcats? Many opponents liked to ?haul? the name, while calling their own teams such original things as Badboys, Bluefire and Dreamteam... Hoegsbo is a despelling of Hgsbo, a small part of Gothenburg. We have the distinction of being the first hockey team ever from that area, and nowadays the most successful as well.. The name was picked by coach Fredrik Vilborg and first hand rated by his brother Conny Torstensson, now leading the rival Hoegsbo StreetDogs. The dogs are only a plague though.. |
