This one is Extracurricular Week. Everybody join a club, but make your parents pay the dues.Topic 1) My Theory on Beauty: - By Me (Cat)
Ok, I was supposed to share this with my English class on Friday, but it didn't happen. So I have to get it out. Now.
Why every person is beautiful: Love is a beautiful thing. Sex (when used properly) is a beautiful act. And conception is a beautiful miracle. Therefore, the fruits of the womb are beautiful. Everyone has inherent beauty, because everyone is different. (Clones wouldn't be beautiful until the environment shapes their differences.) Even if a person commits a sin, their beauty lies within the hope for redemption. And if at least one person finds one beautiful, then that one is.
On material objects: If any material object is deemed as beautiful by any one person, then beautiful it is. A certain type of bug or whatever may not be welcome in American society, but across another culture, someone may be keeping it as a pet. Since that one person sees beauty in it, then it is a beautiful creature.
Beauty is not just in the eye of the beholder, but in the mind and soul. The truest beauty comes from a spiritual essence felt by the beholder.
Physical and intellectual/sentimental beauty still exist, but neither of these types are a great a power as spiritual beauty. Within that, the acceptance of one's own beauty is the final stage. One must accept their own beauty in order to fully understand it.
You know what, I never actually defined what beauty is, I just told how to identify it. So here's a textbook definition: a quality that appeals to the senses or mind through harmony of form or color, excellence of artistry or craftsmanship, truthfulness, originality, or some other, often unspecifiable, property. The who unspecifiable property thing is the truest part.
I guess I'll end this with a Joydrop song lyric: "I'm not beautiful like you; I'm beautiful like me." Everyone remember that YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL!
Now go out and spread the love! Topic 2) The Price of Cool: - By Kim "Don't tell my Mom I'm Student Council President" Larson
The logic behind the process of making a wax hand is crazy. First you dip your hand in ice then you plunge your arm in hot paraffin wax, but you don't just plunge it in wax once--you do it over and over again! And the madness doesn't stop there. Once you have a significant amount of wax on your hand so that you can't move your fingers, although they are on fire, some guy slits your wrist and cuts up your arm. Crazy, but it does look cool in the end. Topic 3) Cat's Song of the Week:
