This one is Defy Superstition Week, since Thursday the 13th is coming.
Go ahead, walk under a ladder. Topic 1) Senior Skip Day: - By Me (Cat)
Welcome losers! Well, that was my greeting for a couple of classes on Friday, the infamous Senior Skip Day. And of course, I was there, bright and early as usual. Hey, why would I want to blow a free $250 on doing stuff I could do later, anyway? Plus, the day was more like "Senior Slack Day" for us COOL people who actually attended. We took easy quizzes and played Hangman. And did jigsaw puzzles, and had a fencing match.
Those that skipped pretty much screwed themselves over. I believe they have to make up the quizzes, but they will contain more than one question this time around. And the six that skipped English have three essays coming your way. Have fun with Alem's poem!
Probably the best part was that you could actually MOVE in the 600 hall! It was awesome. The people that actually attended were people that I, for the most part, like. All the annoying hall-blocking clowns were off doing whatever people do when they skip school (hell if I know), and they missed the "WWF-tryout" brawl during Lunch. Too bad.
So Friday was a lot of fun. I wish every day was Senior Skip Day. Topic 2) SW/OC (Seniors Without Cars): - By Val
Why is it that when you're a senior you're expected to have a car? That you're expected to NEVER ride the bus? That you're "un-cool" to ride the bus as a senior?
Well, I don't have a car, I'm a senior, and I'm not, in my opinion (and that's the only one that matters), "un-cool". But people don't see it that way. In their minds you are a senior, so you have to have a car to get to school. This is a lame-assed stereotype!
A lot of seniors don't have the money to buy a car. My family is not rich--they don't have the money to buy me a car, not even a used one. And considering that I make $6.50 an hour, I'm not going to be buying myself one anytime soon. So, unless someone out there wants to buy me a car I'm stuck riding the bus.
And I'll bet you that when these stereotype-believing people are actually seniors, most of them won't have cars either.Topic 3) Cat's Song of the Week:
