Welcome to The Red Eared Slider site !!                                        The #1 turtle site on the net !!                                        Here you'll find information on Red Eared Slider!

Diet

" I'm hungry momma" said the little turtle. First you should know the Red eared slider are omnivore. So it will eat most of the food you give it. So what do you feed it? Well you should feed it 25% of everything. Like:

25% Veggies

25% Commercial sticks/pellets

25% beef/chicken pieces

                                             25% live food

Commercial Food : ReptoMin (shown on right), Box turtle and tortoise food, Hikari Turtle Sticks, HBH turtle bites, etc... NEVER FEED YOUR RED EAR SLIDER MORE THEN IT WOULD EAT ! These food have a lot of nutrition that is very good for your turtle, but don't feed it too much because it also need veggies too.

Meats: beef, chicken, beef heart, etc... These food are good because they are high in calcium. !! WARNING !! : NEVER FEED YOUR TURTLE RAW OR UNCOOKED MEAT BECAUSE IT MAY HAVE  SALMONELLA. Don't feed too much because there only one part of a varied diet. Just feed your turtle as much as it can eat in about 10-15 minutes.

Live Food: Guppies, gold fish, feeder etc... These are very good for the Red Eared Slider because chasing them give them a lot of exercise and it fun to watch then get eaten :^). Don't feed them too much of these food because they make a mess of them.
